Always freeze my bread and take out slices as I need it. My toaster has a thaw function, so does my microwave if I'm in a hurry for a sandwich, still taste's fresh.

Dunno if its just an old person thing, but grandmas freezer was also set to kill. Staying overnight as a kid icecream after dinner she would also have to microwave it just to get it soft enough to scoop. |

I can't stand defrosted frozen bread. Doesn't taste fresh to me at all. Maybe it's a psychological thing?

I’m with you. I can/will eat it from frozen, but prefer bread stored at room temperature or slightly cooled. It seems perverse in a country of such good food opportunities, to favour the indifferent palate. Note that I have seen matzo several years old, yet seeming no more or less edible.

I've been in this house just over 12 months now, and up until the start of last summer, I kept the bread on a shelf in the kitchen. Not in the cupboard just a shelf on the wall.
Since the bread was starting to go off, I moved it into the cupboard as it was a smidgen cooler but dark, figuring that it might help to keep the bread longer. Which it seemed to, by about a day.

Bread straight from the bakery last longer (bread bin remember them) than supermarket stuff but then we don't have humidity here much.

Pop it in the fridge then as a compromise. Will go well past the use by date.

My partners on low carb Keto, she buys Aldi low carb bread, really high grain, almost German black bread in looks last quite a few days unrefrigerated. With seven bakeries in Wang alone wholemeal grain is easy to come by fresh here.

Why is it that dog owners can’t tell you they have a dog without telling you it’s a “rescue”. Is that better than just a second hand dog?

I hear you, but they’re also telling me they didn’t buy it from some dodgy puppy farm on Faceache, and that it might also show a bit of (mis)conduct associated with a highly stressful period in its life.

I have a very conservative uncle that subscribes to that notion, as it white stands out on the road. My response to that is well, it's pretty bloody hard to miss a bright red car on the road...............

depends on the car,
if you happened to see an old Mazda Bongo van painted bright red most wouldnt give it a second glance.... 'damn more hippies moving in ....' where as the same red on a 'stang always grabs the eye. We have a burnt orange one over here with matching wheels. Now the owner is a knob that you want to ignore but the car comes towards you its a drool session time

Why is it that very few AFL players (and probs other codes, too, but I don't follow them) sing the national anthem when it's being sung?
Wouldn't it be great if people had pride in our national anthem? So much so that they were comfortable to outwardly sing along with it in public.

But there are a number of NRL players ( with ancestry ) who consider singing the National Anthem offensive to them. S***s me to tears as they take the money, the fame, the recognition, and the benefits and are still not satisfied. Personally, I think that Advance Australia Fair should be restricted to international competition events, not domestic. I am always envious of the NZers who give the Haka full throttle before a game, regardless of whatever ancestry. |

I'm with you, so overdone it's lost it's significance, especially when you have white players in the team doing it. Like the smoking ceremony and welcome to country.
Sure it has it's place and should be recognised, but every time someone opens a meeting?
