UK has insane levels of fuel tax. Been that way for yonks.

Adelaide OTR $ 1.94 for ultimate 98 less discount paid $ 1.84.

Picked up a full tank of 98 at $2.16 after 4c discount. I now fill up at Hume on the way home on the Monaro Hwy which must turn over the tanks fairly regularly vs nearly $2.50 in the city or even near my house is $2.40+.

I think we are all being taken advantage of.
Arrived up here for a new job/stay at Barnawatha. Local indi servo off the hwy is 8 cents cheaper (diesel) 4 cents cheaper (91 petrol) than the big names down at the bigger towns.

Mentioned in another thread in the Pub.......
Same with the grocers, local IGA hasn't changed much regarding pricing, local fruit and veges at reasonable prices where as staying in Wang recently, both Coles and the Freshly Defrosted People have been jacking up the prices across the board since dispensing with their IGA competitor.
Good example... Scotch fillet steak from their in house butcher $48p kg, local butcher here $43p kg. Bakery in town is better value too.

Funny most small town people go to the larger ones thinking they will save more on shopping.

It’s like everyone has got the idea to hold up high prices for as long as the market will stand it.
I get that because the people on the end of the supply chain have no choice but to pass on costs.

Fuel prices seem to have fallen slightly in the past month, maybe a sign that supply isn’t as threatened
as was thought three months ago….maybe natural gas is worse situation than petrol/diesel……

Reducing the speed limit on motorways and banning Sunday driving are ideas suggested to cut Britain’s reliance on oil.

The International Energy Agency has proposed a ten-point plan to reduce global demand by 2.7 million barrels a day.

Included in the plan is a ban on driving cars in cities every Sunday, as well as a suggestion to cut speed limits on motorways by 6mph.

Also included in the plan is working from home three days a week, and using high-speed night trains instead of planes where possible.

Yeah, I’ve had more success using fuel search aps and getting up to 20c per litre savings depending on timing.

They do this in Delhi and a few other cities. They implement it when pollution levels peak till they drop.

Fuel is $2.10 near home for 98. Still haven't needed to fill up yet. Might get closer to $2 soon for 98 (who thought we'd ever have $2 a litre and cheap in the same sentence)

Diesel follows a monthly price set whereas petrol moves almost daily in a 2 week cycle. Price of diesel should adjust in early August.

90km/h seems to be the fuel saving speed here.
Most of the large transport companies are sporting 90km/h speed limited signs these days.

It is but the point I was making is that UK has a big issue with traffic congestion where lots of vehicles
either sit or crawl in traffic for hours and they want to limit speed in open running motorways…

I can’t see truckies agreeing with 90 kph, they’d never be able to get things done to tight timetables,
interstate runs with compulsory breaks every five hours, I can see that adding more and more time
to destination if the slower running means an additional rest break….

90kph has been the speed limit for trucks in NZ for years most are speed limited to 90......you get used to it

Yes but only if you are one of the rare, almost extinct owner operators.
Company drivers on hourly wagers aren't going to be to fussed about that speed.

I notice more people tucking in behind my truck setting the cruise to 90km and getting a tow behind the truck in the slipstream its a pretty economical way to travel
