No LED turn signals is a bit of a bummer.
The car won't sell unless it gets significant interior updates and tech though - the new VF got a ****-ton of gadgets and is actually selling well, with the old engines. Your average consumer cares not for engines and power figures, it just has to be "good and it works". Case in point: Why wasn't the GT/GS more popular than HSV's? |

I'm hoping it gets a new rear bar that better suits the bulkiness of the front. Also; I'm hoping the rear end doesn't look all dicky like this thing; Bulkier FPV-style side skirts would be nice as well, to add some 'meat' and make everything proportionate. So far, the spy pics make it look as if it's gonna be a front-heavy catfish-inspired thing. Like the Fusion/Mondeo |

Features mean alot less than the brand name, and at the moment Ford aint doing too great in the latter.

Let's clear this up.... There a LED strips around each of the headlights, just as the tease video shows.

I don't (the wheels). One area the FG designers absolutely nailed the look of was the G6ET and those 19 inch rims. Those look like 18's anyway

Front sensors and rain sensing wipers on this G6E... Grill looks to have horizontal chrome bars too.

My guess is only the xr models get the twin halo... Keeping with the twin headlight tradition?
Ps the above wheels look to be current G6E wheels painted black?

Do you think theres scope to improve some of the interior materials, like ICC panel? I remeber the BA MkII had a nicer finish than the BA. Personally, the inner door handles of the FG look/feel flimsy.
And with any luck it picks up the corporate steering wheel( or Mustang's!) |

I wonder why the rear view mirror is lower on the windscreen. Perhaps just a new position? Or could there possibly new reading lights / something else in the way?

What's the obsession with halos and LEDs to be a sales winner. It's just juvenile bling that will be sooo yesterday in 5 years time.

It is an XR headlight. XR headlights will get twin halo LEDs in headlight but style may not be 100% as per the teaser video. Also it looks like the above car (G6E) looks to have heavy padding along bottom edge of headlights. I would guess this model will get one long LED.

rain sensing gear and other similar things can be located in that area - the auto wipers on my Rio have the wiring etc in that spot.

probably the fact that most other manufacturers have it on their mid to high level cars - hardly going to be 'yesterday' as it was introduced for safety (DRL)

E240 Version 6, how long has this car been on the drawing board exactly?

I'm looking and it's not the same as the led in the pic that spyman posted of the XR headlight.
The led in your pic looks so much better and I'd be a tad disappointed if they use the flat line style that is in spymans pic. I'm sure it will look very good, but the style from your avatar would look absolutely insane! |

If we didn't "care" about anything, we'd all have Nokia 5110s (they make/receive calls just fine) and old TVs or dial-up Internet etc. If you keep up, you lose in this marketplace. That's just how the world is now. I'd rather live in a repeat of 1990-1999 though and I'm sure I'm not alone

There are some pretty good examples of this that create a brand image: Audi series; Unified front grille, "4 rings", eyebrow LED's of late. Quattro nameplate since group B rally BMW series; Angel eyes, Kidney Grille Porsche: Common design principles Audi R18 LMS Ultra; "1" headlamps and fintail Far from blingy - Ford are trying to create this with the Fusion, current Taurus, new Fiesta and Focus, and the Mustang with their "Kinetic" design. GM are building similar brandings with the new VF, the Malibu and so on. And last I checked, BMW have been using halos and LED's as part of their branding since the 90's. That's over 15 years and counting so far. Gadgets and toys sell, particularly when the car doesn't have a strong branding heritage. BMW and Audi both have fairly extensive options lists, and they sell well globally - people in the states buy a 328i with manual and cloth, and they do well because they're well engineered driver's cars, and they have the branding "Sheer Driving Pleasure" to their name, and it's been proven. A halo car helps too. But they have branding in absence of options. The Falcon and VF don't have that in light of a more youthful market demographic and more city-based lifestyles which don't favor large cars. Quote:
