Bloody hell, that’s uncalled for. Don’t you think the cooling towers are in enough trouble, they just don’t deserve that.

I’d just like to clarify that what I said was an off the cuff comment. I do not in any way wish to make light of this terrible tragedy.

I’d say the latter. There are many conflicting reports about this, some saying that it would be similar to the Three Mile Island stuff up, some saying Chernobyl. Either way it is not going to be good .

This is very disturbing.

Hate to be cynical but I find anything that ABC TV or print journos produce these days will be spun in favour of the current government’s agenda.

back on topic.

Half the "experts" in the news seem to be from anti-nuclear "think" tanks with deceiving names like "Physicians for Social Responsibility" which are often made up of one or two people, a PO box, with no qualifications at all.

Interesting discussion here;

I havent seen any "environment experts/ greenies" on tv at all discussing this.
And im not following what your trying to say in anycase?
Are you implying that the loss of coolant flow to a nuclear reactor is a minor issue?

Certainly some very anti-nuke views there, even the YouTube video has been pulled.

I'm watching news streams from overseas Jim, and no I wasn't implying that a loss of coolant is minor.

Just trying to balance up the information flow.

Yes some so called news and media outlets do leave a lot to be desired in what they report. They keep talking about Japans economy and how it will affect ours since the earthquake!
Seriously cant this stuff wait?
More important issues then how hard done by we may be because Japans economy goes pearshaped

That was more than well known Full Noise, doesn't change the fact that Kochie and his ilk are opportunistic scum hell bent on yet more sensationalism.

Natalie Barr from Sunrise was reporting from Tokyo this morning, but was actually being a journalist and reporting what she was seeing and information she could get her hands on. Even explained that the drivers they use to get around were saying that they wouldn't go nort towards the reactor and that officials were stopping people 60kms out even though the exclusion zone was on 20km's. Natalie even said it wasn't worth the risk to her crew to go up to the reactor zone.

Kochie might be different, not a trained reporter.
