My nephew agreed on a price and hit the "buy it now". My nephew booked his flight to go down and pay for the car. In the meantime, the seller decided to take a $1000 deposit from someone local to him who was able to get to his house faster and offer more money.

To be fair to the seller he did actually end up selling it to my nephew (for the cheaper price) after a little "gentle" pressure from me.

My nephew flew down from Sydney the same day and drove it home to Sydney without stopping. Apparently she didn't miss a beat and best of all only cost $103.50 on gas Melbourne to Sydney.

She is matching numbers and in 7/10 condition.

He is now selling it for several reasons I would prefer not to disclose but I can say that making a profit is the least of his motives. He loves coupes as much as me and if he could keep it he would.

I went and had a look at it so anyone who is thinking of buying it, It is a Landau with most of its bits with the interior being in great condiditon, except for the driver seat in different material, leather instead of panty hose but no splits. Does need a little bit of work on the paint side of things but it would be something someone could drive for a long time and do bits as you go. It looks good and agree on the 7/10 condition, especially for the price.

Point is you could buy a crappy rusty broken Landau for 10k, let it sit in the garage for 2 years before you get around to finishing it, cost you 4 times the purchase price in the end and still be chasing the missing badges.

Was a scum bag act by the seller .......

Had a couple of people thinking it was mine for sale- same front light treatments but no vinyl roof....sorry to hear about the low act- how come it is getting sold so soon? I saw it advertised in Sydney the other day.
Did you get the chrome wheel arches with it?

I have decided to start looking into selling my XA Superbird coupe. This is a genuinely reluctant sale, and I should point out I reserve the right to withdraw it from sale if my personal circumstances change.

Asking $20K. Will CONSIDER offers. Car requires restoration.

The car is a March 1973 XA “superbird” coupe, with the following specs:

Paint- - - - T - - Lime glaze / Jewel Green
Trim - - - - W - - White Vinyl
Engine - - - Y - - 302 CID
Trans - - - B - - T bar auto

Options fitted include 68 – sports suspension, 84 – black window louvers, plus the usual options 88, 03, 32, 39. Has verification from ford for all options.

With the superbird pack comes the GT style paintwork, full dash, black out grille, and superbird decals. See www.xasuperbird.com

Car is unrestored, but in need of restoration. Car is 99% complete for body and trim, and about 80% complete mechanically. All coupe specific parts are there. Engine number does not match, but is correct JG65NM coded (ie sido is different). Tags and body match. Car is partially dismantled (mechanicals only)

Body:

Shell – about 90% original paint, requires rust repair panels to bottom of both A pillars and below rear window (rust replacement panel supplied). Has VERY minor rust in wheel arches, sills, and around boot lip. I would expect more rust on stripping. Everything else is rust free. Shell has minor dings but appears to be bog free with no major surgery. Both quarters look to still have the original paint on them.

Doors – both doors are salvageable with only minor rust in the frames and skins. Some ripples and scrapes but are better than anything else you will find.

Guards – both have rust pitting on the inside and the internal frame is slightly rusted. Have not rusted through. Have been resprayed hence condition (straightness) unknown. Both are suitable to reuse.

Interior – A few rips on front seats and door trims faded, otherwise ok.

Bonnet / boot, all other panels are straight and rust free.

Mechanical:

302 requires rebuild (probably would run, but..). At a guess about 50% of engine bay components are missing. No tailshaft or gearbox. probably needs donor car to make complete unless you have a good parts inventory. Good Disk brake 2.75 LSD nine inch comes with car, as well as the incomplete drum brake 9 inch in car (missing centre).

For more details or interest please PM me.

Default What a tool

Have a look at this one !!!!

http://cgi.ebay.com.au/FORD-FALCON-G...1%7C240%3A1318

The car can only really be used as a race car or parts, as he hasn't got the ID plates for the car........
And the GT plates isn't really worth anything more than a talking point over a game of eight ball in the shed !!!!, or maybe beer coasters, yet he whats 15k for it !!!

Here we go, a nice clean XB. This one has been previously linked but the price has dropped somewhat. Looks to be good value.

not a bad looking car at all

a little steep price wise though

love the landau's - but $40k in this environment may be a little steep

makes that landau sold enial8 through the forum this year look like a steal!

Its quite a lot given that the tropic gold one on ebay ends in 6 hours, starting bids at $20,000 and no bids yet.......

For some reason i prefer this one, to the one ^^^above it^^^, and without trying to revisit the $40k one in another thread, it just shows it pays to shop around eh??

Unless you want to pay for a "Genuine GT", i think a "Bitsa GT" is all you will get these days for these sort of prices and be able to drive it away, i guess it all depends on what sort off bits you want to pay for, IMHO......
