They were 429's though. And they weren't a factory fitment technically. Cars were built with 351's and the big blocks were fitted later on. |

Agreed.
They are also washing the car from bottom to top... The bottom section will always be dirtier than the top. Leaving the foam on the ground is disappointing for a company in the detailing industry |

"....fine quality craftsmanship and service from enthusiastic people with integrity and experience in this specialised field..." Even though the thing is probably going to be re-painted, the lack of attention to detail washing that car is not a good look.

the thing is getting a full restoration, it wouldn't matter if you washed it with a handful of wet pebbles.

If you look at the prices of classic cars overseas, the original looking barn find ones have become more desirable and worth more than restored ones.
Not that it's any business of mine questioning the owner, but you have to wonder if they are 'ruining' it by stripping it all back and making it concourse. Personally I would just fix up the mechanicals and get it roadworthy, then go cruising.

In most cases yes, but if this car has been gathering dust for years and years, the top of the car is more likely to be covered in thicker dust than the bottom of it.

Bit of a shame its getting a restoration, especially when they tend to go overboard and restore them to the pointof being a delivery only kilometers car

I too, watched the teaser. There was something unsettling about it. A bit like 19th century anthropology, with the exhibiting of “specimens” both alive and preserved.
I feel its soul left when the hammer fell; we are left with a vessel that is wholly spent, having fulfilled its life. The best it can now be is a monument to idolatry. |

Some of the rust in the boot that was found from just opening the boot lid, the only way to save her is a full strip & resto, there is no half way.

I'm all for mint survivors being detailed and used as is to preserved their originality, however in this case I'm very pleased to see the new owner electing a full restoration by what appears to be a reputable and capable outfit. The years haven't been too kind to her and the cancer is no doubt more than superficial.
As we know, as an RPO83 it's a very special car and as such, deserves to step out in it's Sunday best. Besides, if I was lucky enough to own this car, I couldn't drive it with that dodgy black stripe down the side! |
