Great fuel consumption though. The Auto will only get to mid 7's on a straight highway run. |

10,000kms Still, stop start traffic 5 days a week. Have done a few long trips in it since last time. 8.2L/100kms Pretty wrapped with the consumption considering its no slouch

If we do a couple of Pirie-Adelaide-Pirie runs a month our consumption gets down to 7.4. If we do three or four of those runs a month our consumption fluctuates between 7.2 and 7.0 per 100kms. The old girl has done almost 110,000 since we bought it new in March 2009. Happy with it? Hell yeah!

My car is a 2012 petrol Trend auto 2 ltr which has now done just over 14000kms and I generally keep my fuel consumption readout set to average and most of my driving is in and around the Adelaide suburbs with an occasional spin along the SE freeway to Mt Barker and then south to Strathalbyn or perhaps a trip down to Victor Harbour or Cape Jervis, and my fuel consumption usually reads 7.5.or 7.6 L per 100kms.
However, I have just returned from a 4000km trip to Tasmania via Melbourne and The Spirit of Tasmania and the consumption has dropped to 7.2 which I am more than pleased with. And I haven't yet filled up since my return to Adelaide and have done about 150 Kms around the inner city, and it is still reading 7.2 so I expect it would have dropped to 7.1 had my journey from Tassie been just a little longer. And how many Kms to a tank?, at one stage I had driven 802 Kms between fillings but I was still only able to get almost 49 ltrs into the tank but generally in Adelaide I manage about 700 between fillups. And I never reset the average readout. |

I'm not sure if mine is considered high, just had this car for a week.
2008 LT CL 2.0 petrol engine automatic. Avg speed 26kmph FC fluctuates between 9.7 to 10.2 It was 17.2 the first night I reset the trip computer and went to pick up some pizza 5 mins away (Lots of hills and a really steep tight fitting garage). |

You need to consider the average speed and average fuel consumption together because
peoples idea of city driving/ heavy traffic varies a lot. Generally they get really good consumption at 80-90 kph steady driving. Stop start traffic really kills the economy and lowers average speed |

Have a look at your instant readout if you have it, that might give you some idea but you will still get some high readings depending on the road and excelleration, with a heavy right foot my Focus will shoot up to 30+l per 100Kms. And I wouldn't worry about any initial readout because you need to run a few kms and use some fuel to allow the computer to work out an average,..that is why I never reset my computer other than when refilling when I reset kms travelled. And I have now done over 200kms since returning from my long trip and it is still reading 7.2 so I am more than happy

14,500kms 8.7L/100kms Gone up a bit. probably a mix of using A/C a lot over summer and the oil starting to age. 15k service today though.

First time long distance test.
Focus trend auto 8/1/14 800km to a full tank. 90% highway. Outside temp 35-40deg. AC on. Maximizing cruise control usage. How I got the figure... filled up full tank. Drove till around 760km and the warning light comes up. Drove about 20ks more before next fill up. Im a happy man! (came from 1998 Camry V6) |

Diesels love long highway drives and give great economy then but around town with stop start traffic, much less so.
The servicing is more expensive both oil and filters . but heaps of torque. |

8.1L/100km 2000km. G/F driving it air con on all the time, fair bit of freeway/open road driving. And she has the little trophy award for having all the petals green lol |

Thought I'd chime in again with some hwy economy figures.
I do a weekly commute from around the Hills area (NW sydney) to Goulburn 207km each way. A tiny bit of driving in Goulburn during the week and might do few chores on the weekend back in Sydney. 2011 FOCUS Sport Diesel Auto Approaching 33K Km's Average speed 88km/h 5.2l/100km (Dyno tuned by Tunehouse) Filled up this arvo, and trip computer is predicting 1100+ km per tank. |

It did seem wildly optimistic....by about 100km's I'd say.
The drive home from the petrol station to home was only 3-4km's so it may just be that the DTE hasn't had a chance to sort itself out. It has been reasonably accurate and a very good indicator so far though. |

They are pretty accurate, and seem to only be a little haywire when you are nearing the bottom of the tank.

Back to confirm that yes, the reading and figures are really quite accurate. Been doing that same run for three months now and it's been very consistent.
