Regardless of which option you go, how soon do you intend to have this project completed?? I hope you have a fat bank account.

hoping to have it finished within about 3 years, i dont like spending money to get ""professionals"" to do the work for me, thats the funnest part. Not expecting to spend heaps and heaps, just enough to do it properly.

When you say not "heaps and heaps" how much do you expect to spend?

Removing it all together would be the better option.

Tom, I voted other.

I think you should get a Hyundai, and keep as far away as possible from real cars.

I got here too late and read the first few pages, Doh!!

Has it been mentioned that you could turbo your 2V 250 and go LPG just to be even more different.

I had a 2v once and it was a great engine.

Go both Turbo v8 sounds good to me.

Realistically though I think a V8 is going to be cheaper than the turbo transplant.

and 15k?

I think at least 20 sorry. Paint job alone would be 3-5k!

maybe put the intercooler on top of the engine and use the shaker to direct air to it like the wrx cars do then you have the best of both worlds

i thought about turboing the 250 2v to start with, then after doing some research i found that crossflows make alot more power with boosted applications because the 2v doesnt flow as well and is a bit restricted, also theres alot more aftermarket parts for crossflows.

thanks for the input.

Anyone know the price for a engineers certificate in NSW?

Like doing everything except making the decisions on what you will do?

Seems like this whole thread was created to polarize people, and it seems you've made your decision, opposing what the poll that you created for responses reads.

Build a turbo cross flow for your car, tech screw some sub boxes to the boot, wire up your neons, bolt on some 24inch chromies, vinyl paint your interior white and super glue house carpet to the floor and it'll be completely awesome.

Try not to contradict yourself next time.

where does the ricer, dodgy crap come from? I dont recall saying anything like that besides I was thinking of building a turbo crossflow.

its a shame your car hasnt worked out the way you have dreampt up, maybe try setting more realistic goals then just trying to go all out then realising you dont know what your doing. Dont try to convince me im going to do the wrong thing over your personal experiences.

Oh to be 16 again...

Explain to me how I've contradicted myself. My opinion was simply that old cars should run tough engines, if you want to bolt a turbo onto the side of a cross flow, go for it, everyone else is.

My car is working out fine kiddo, the time line for the XY is about as inflated as your ego at the moment, I don't have to have everything done at a moments notice because I have a few other options when it comes to transport. I don't plan on getting it on the road for at least 5 years.

I think 427ci World Small Block rated at 650 horsepower should do the trick. If not:

1) Modular 4.6L crate engine

2)XR8 Sprint engine

3)BOSS 290 engine

4)426 Hemi

5)265 Hemi

6)The new FPV GTHO V10 engine

Sorry mate if you have an XY you need muscle. Only plastic bumber cars can have turbos (don't ask me why that makes sense). If your going turbo you might as well put an RB30ET in, put 20" chromies on, change your name to Habib and go show off your "fully hectic turbo dose" IMO

i agree with the above posts and in terms of xy i like the turbo charged option as ive said before but nothing beats rip roaring v8. if your just gunna pay out every person that A: is at least 10 years older than yourself and have been around cars for ever B: have probably tried to do the same themselves and C: just putting up stupid posts on how dumb their ideas are. you really arent gonna do yourself many favours mate and seriously nobody is going to want to help you out if all you do is discredit them.

my 2c anyway

yeah i guess thats true, im being swayed towards v8's more now, after thinking about the sound and feeling you get driving a V8.

i was only really trying to argue with 4v man because i knew he would post up more ideas for me to think about. The others were just people who wrote stupid posts such as "turbos are for ricers", "you may as well put a rotory in it", "stay away from real cars" ect.
