There you go. Hennessy Performance level 1 kit takes it out to 650hp. With several other options finishing with a 1000hp twin turbo conversion. OK FPV, its time to step up. Let the good times roll.

I think there overrated but I wouldn't call them slow (the SS and clubsport). most holden fans go one about these but what is special about them?? If it was a GTS or senator I could understand but not a bloody SS

Well this is the first SS I've ever owned and my brother has an 05 Clubby. While I wouldn't call it anything "special" it's decent for what it is.

The ZL1 Camaro does 0-100 in 3.8sec and standing qtr in 12.1@117mph. With the VF and Camaro sharing the same chassis and similar weight I think it would comfortably be under 4.5 seconds.

So I'm guessing the couldn't find a motor bigger then 6.2l so the thought they would add a supercharger. Would love to know what it's gonna be like on fuel...

Another example of bad marketing by ford. A lot of comments on ls1 forums about a $100k
factory supercharged commodore with 430kw at the flywheel being a bargain. Do they not realise that for just over $30k less they can pick up a gt with a little over 400kw at the flywheel from factory? http://www.carsales.com.au/demo/deta...d&sort=default |

6.2lt supercharged V8 with only 430 at the flywheel MUST be seriously de-tuned, or rather conservatively tuned..
Our little 5.4lt blown modular mototrs with Kennebells ALL make 400+++ REAR WHEEL KILOWATTS on 10 psi. A stock 5lt Miami doesn't have too much trouble making more than the LSA quoted number with a tune, circa 380-390 rwkw. To my thinking, one of these LSA 6.2lt jobs with not much more than a pulley change, a tune, maybe a handful more revs, will easily exceed 500 at the flywheel. Infact, I see no reason that they wont get tuned and pullied up to make 430+ at the bags, no other mods. The hardware will already be there for those numbers, stock fuel system with enough headroom to support those numbers I mentioned, intercooler, etc. Per usual, the fuse in the driveline will no doubt be the clutch, HSV tend to make there stock clutch set ups marginal even for lightly bolted on engines. How the rest of the driveline copes with boosted examples of these engines remains to be seen. I really look forward to seeing and experiencing one of these new GTS in the flesh. I could actually see myself parking one in the driveway, the hardware spec, the look of them excites me more than any FG FPV V8 so far. Having said that, the motorshow FPV Black car lit my fire, just not what we've seen available so far, R spec included. 100 grand for the big banger HSV? Reasonable buying in my opinion, and the prospect of one excites me. I'll take mine in black, charcoal wheels, dark tint, slight lowering job. Yum.

You can bet HSV will "fiddle" with the cars used by the press but Dowling won't even mention that.

The ZL1 Camaro has the same LSA engine which will go into the VF GTS, both cars are based on the Zeta platform, so both having identical chassis/weight should see similar 0-100 and qtr mile times of 3.8 and 12.1 respectively.

The ZL1 also has 285's up front and 305's at the rear, I doubt the GTS will get that.

Also expect to pay $85K driveaway not the $100K RRP, the VE GTS with big brake option was $95K RRP and you could get them for $75K driveaway. |

"Fettle" might have been a better choice of words.

Yep the Grange can be very nice indeed, have always liked them, same as I like the FPV Force cars.

Also expect to wait 12 months before you can do this - they will not deal in the initial period.

Agreed. Stock even the LS3's aren't that fast. They aren't slow, but certainly not throw you back in your seat fast and they certainly aren't the world beaters that some people make them out to be. the LS motors saving grace has always been the fact that they are an untouched American motor so there is a humongous aftermarket for them.

Last time I took my fg to the drags there was a ve ss running near identical, times to mine, except he had a tune, exhaust and cai.
He wasn't too impressed when he found out mine was dead stock. But this new gts, IMHO, is gonna be about the toughest sedan you could buy short of buying something with amg badges. I hope it does well, as said earlier, competition improves the breed. |

What ever happened to the intercooled GT-H? Maybe Ford will release this around the same time to rain on Holdens parade. This GTS sounds awesome and will certainly give the HSV boys bragging rights. Just hope FPV answers back and shows them just what the Miami is capable of.

But I've have a mate who had a VE Grange and I've been out in it many times. And I, like he can see that it's twice the car his SSV was. A good car though.

American track times are ridiculously fast, they run on extremely sticky drag strips using track timing, which does not include rollout? Run the very same car here on Oz strips and you will drop quite a chunk of time, not to mention Aussie motoring journos use different timing methods that don't use rollout. I'd be quite suprised if it did run quicker than a 4.5, I can just see it being an absolute nightmare to get off the line without sending the tyres up into a smoke show. The supercharged ****ingshaw cars proved that because they were all slow as hell, they just couldn't stop them wheelspinning. |

Stock GT's are getting around the 12.5 mark. Haven't really heard what the RSpec's are getting but at 12.1 if thats the estimate for the GTS ..... LOTS of cubes for little effect. I know thats very premature as they haven't even hit the road yet and is all speculative but unless its into the elevensies I can't see its worth.
