I've had a few Aurions as renters. Never timed one but they felt quicker than I thought they would be. Not a bad sounding V6 either, very smooth. The last one I had was the Sportivo and boy was it ugly.
Not bad buying if you managed to pick up a 2-3 year old Presara for the right price IMO.

On the Toyota forum quickest Aurion is around 14.2 @98mph over the 1/4 that's with exhaust, intake.
later cars didn't gain any power

Stalling it up won't really make it launch harder. Hitting the gas from idle lets the convertor flash.

Im a ford man through and through, i dont own this aurion nor do i want them to be quicker. I borrowed the car and did a fair test for my own curiosity and the results posted. No trickery involved. No point many sticking their heads in the sand saying it cant be true..as heart breaking as it is...thats how quick they are. Last edited by HULK_I6T; 02-06-2015 at 10:51 PM. |

Hulk, you are famous on here for just talking rubbish and never making it out to the drags where there is timing equipment, consistent conditions and the ability to make true comparisons. You always revert to some crap about just wanting to be able to go to a BBQ in it. But now you are calling people out asking them to post a youtube video to prove you wrong??? People aren't heart broken or uncomfortable. You are deluded. Nobody who is out of high school times their car like that. If you care enough about how fast it goes you go out to a track and find out. If you don't care, then don't. None of this Youtube stopwatch nonsense. Its tantamount to measuring up something with hand spans or pacing it out. Rough would be generous. Have you ever been to a timed event, be it a drag strip, circuit or other? Last edited by Shonky.; 02-06-2015 at 10:57 PM. |

I have no interest to say an aurion is quicker. I timed it and posted results, whats so hard to understand. Its not only about their performance, they are a very well put together car. You should take issue with those in this thread that rubbish the aurion, they have absolutely no idea. Last edited by HULK_I6T; 02-06-2015 at 11:06 PM. |

Later cars lost 50kg, gained electric steering and have taller gearing so doubt their any quicker than early model's.

Homework? What does that mean, read through more of your threads? I don't think so. It seems you have never raced at a strip, because if you had you wouldn't need to be told how flawed your attempt to time this car is |

you keep amending your posts, hard to keep up
to your latest edit - I am not "pro-Aurion" or "anti-Aurion" I just read the banter and the different opinions, but the one thing that drives me nuts is the disinformation you constantly crank out nothing but assumptions, flawed logic and in this case ridiculous methods of measuring things |

Well I'm pleased that you're apparently happy to accept a YOU TUBE video as evidence of what a stock FG Turbo can achieve. So with that in mind I suggest that you google:- 0-200 km/h in stock FG Turbo's. Three YOU TUBE videos came up for me, two with around (or under) mid 4's to 100 just like my car, and under 16 seconds to 200 km/h (there was also another one that was slower to 200 at around 19 seconds after a very early 3/4 gear change. Apparently the Cat had been removed so not standard, and slower anyway). Also if you check on the XR6TURBO.COM forum, you will find others that have managed 12.5 to 13 sec quarters and importantly with around high 170s/180 k end speeds like mine. (Note. 400 metre speeds are about 1 k higher than Drag Strip time slip speeds that are averaged over the last 66 feet). Yes others are as fast as mine. Also one member with just an XR8 snorkel and K&N panel filter managed more than one 12.3 at 112 mph pass. But going back to the YOU TUBE 0-200 runs. Naturally I can't guarantee the accuracy of the speedo's although mine is very accurate to at least around 200 (Dyno check) and from what I've heard, it seems later Falcons are pretty accurate, but whatever the case that brings me to another point. I've previously offered to send you my GPS files from WSID and with them you can check every accurate nerdy detail. Acceleration times, the cars speed at any point on the run, the UTC time and date, and even a map that you can overlay on a google Photo to show that the car really was at WSID on the night, but you still don't believe me after that offer. Oh no, apparently you'd prefer a video of a speedo in a car that could be running down a well. Sure seems very strange to me. Now regarding the 2nd gear launch idea, the reality is that it's very useful in the real world. Fast second gear launches (without a high stall up) and without wheelspin (that can get drivers into trouble) can make very good sense I think. Easy on the engine, easier on most of the transmission and the tyres. Also given that I got a 4.85 time to 100 with a high stall (that you could check on) then a time that's about 1/2 a second slower without a high stall surely should be achievable, very much a real world situation. I've also previously had a 4.90 using second gear not at a dragstrip on just a reasonably good surface, nothing special. On these runs peak acceleration isn't particularly high. It just keeps up a good pace for the whole run. By the way as I've previously indicated, the 4.56 second time to 100 wasn't achieved on a Dragstrip. They can sometimes have less grip than a good road surface. At the Dragstrip I used 300 less stall revs on run 2 in Drive and got a 4.62 time to 100 and a 12.509 sec 1/4 time slip, the 0-20 time on this occasion was 2 tenths slower than on the 4.56 sec run. So the car clearly had the power for a better result. Mate, it seems to me that you mocked me right back when you suggested that I should go to the track and try for a 4.3 second time. I'm thinking that you were way closer than you knew. Soon after your post I got these results at the dragstrip. and I've got the proof that's available. Only on Ford Forums would straight line acceleration be considered the only measure of performance.
Who cares how quick they are in a straight line? They're a horrible car regardless! |

If they were so good why didn't they become an instant success then cult car like the XRT?
Because they weren't that impressive.

I wouldn't say 'horrible' per se, just bland.
However I guess to some people bland IS horrible, so the point is valid. I'll just shut up now... |

I've been studying with the help of Pappa Google, those 2GR-FE engines the Aurion has, has 3 catalytic converters in the exhaust system, but apparently they don't really gain anything by opening the exhaust up more.
