You have to be careful when judging people and their cars - I work in the finance industry as a consultant and the people I deal with tend to be management. I'll never forget meeting the CEO of a reinsurance company in Lucerne Switzerland a few years back at a hotel. We were waiting out the front dressed to the nines and he pulled up in a clapped out Alfa dressed in jeans and jumper, chucked the staff the keys and said "Gentlemen, where's lunch at?". Guy had to be worth $100m.

A company executive is an important role in any company, wether they be the CEO or General Manager etc. These people are often seen as the leaders in that business, looked up to by the workers..

This naterally extends out into the carpark. you cant have a company executive turn up in an AU falcon etc. They would lose face in the boardroom.

But what is an appropriate car for a Company executive?

Does it need to be prestige? ie Audi or BMW as a minimum?

Does it need to be brand new/newish? More than 3 years old they could be seen as stale?

Can they turn up in a little fuel miser? What they lose face?

Does it need to be a better or more expensive car than the workers, more appropriate to the pay rate?

Or do people not care what you drive? Would they still respect you if you parked an old EL XR6 in the carpark? then the cleaner parks next to you in his/her new Mitsubishi Lancer to beat the company executive?

Whats the minimum spec car for a company executive?

My company my partner 70% owner has a Tundra, the other 10% owner has a 79 dual cab LC, and I have a Prado 11% owner.

That's $250k for our cars. They cost about $5/hour each to own. We charge more than $150/hour. No problem.

The 'workers' all drive hiluxes, about ten of them.

I think us executives have on par rides with our clients.

Haha we were talking about this at work yesterday, one of the guys walked into a meeting about a 200M development, 10 boys in Armarni suits and one guy in shorts and t-shirt...one guess who was pulling the strings.

You're not a steel supplier are you? My company deals with a steel company with a fleet of cars exactly as you have outlined.

I wonder how it would go if you and your management turned up in a bomb and dressed in jeans. I'm guessing not that well....

As a 'company executive' who must run a family (the bits my wife lets me), put food on the table, light the fire on a cold morning, drink voluminous amounts of medicinal beer, and all the other hard yakka that goes with the territory, I drive nothing that's too good for me. No, no, no, no!! When I am not swanning around in my beaten up old Fairlane, I drive my wife's 1997 Ford Festiva, aka Festicles!! When my oldest daughter had her first car, a 1995 Festiva, there were a pair of Festicles parked in the front yard...

We've got a 1999 WF Festiva as one of our spare cars.

Every time I drive it, it seems to use 13L/100km, when ever dad drives it, it does 6.5L/100km.

I blow all the cobwebs out of it to keep it good for the old man to drive

I can get it to hold 110km/h coming up Dromkeen Hill in Riddells Creek at 5500 RPM in 3rd gear, use all its 57KW.

I did actually, I put my money where my mouth is... Geez its quick.. The new 2015 spec looks to have lost some more weight. I get my car this week but until then I have a brand new demonstrator hence the 0-100 times.

Get your stop watches out fellas, low 5's for a bog stock Aurion... Must be heartbreaking for most.

Lol

low 5's = low 13's in the 1/4

Unless it weighs 1400kg including driver then that is NOT gonna happen !

Now shoosh ...
