Xr6 has orange too. G6e has them in the mirrors.

Kind of disapointed there won't be the trademark XR indents in the bumper for the XR6 & XR8 models. It just shows Ford really have a tight budget on this model (for obvious reasons) only having designed one bumper has probably saved them a couple million $ as silly as it sounds that's what it can cost to design and tool up for just one new panel or bumper.
Bring back Blood Orange for the XR models!
Wonder how many FH's there will be over it's lifespan, 35,000 - 45,000 units maybe, the XR6 Turbo & XR8 models could be a rarity which might make them hold their resale value over the years.

It's pretty amusing though, considering the XR8 next year will be reborn with the same spec engine as the FG GT, could you imagine being a HSV owner forking out all that money on a brand new GTS, then pulling up to the lights next to a FH XR8 and then sitting side by side all the way to 100 and beyond
Even more embarrasing would be the lower spec variants of the VF in HSV's stable getting whopped by a factory XR8.

They will be lucky to build 10,000 if the rumours are true.

The XR bumper should still be different. I'd imagine they'll all share a common headlight housing now though.

Please define a real car? Now my assumption is you're referring to Falcodores.
Enlighten us all how a Falcon XT, Commodore Omega/whatever it is is a real car over say a Hilux or Ranger? Over a Territory and any other "soft roader?" What is it that makes you think these cars are better?

Not talking about 4x4 utes (although it's suspected they are more for fashion than purpose) but the big bland-out toward ORIENTAL soft roaders.
Hello, this is a Ford list - no-one's knocking Territories or Rangers.

It's a deeply ingrained problem that's been emerging for years. Back in the late '70s/early '80s, was working at the Steelworks (Pt Kembla) and the number of whingers that were carrying on about the decline in Aussie manufacturing - and then going out to the car park to drive off in their 180Bs!!!! or Corollas, or Mazda 323 was mind-boggling......
and Ford DID build what they wanted (Laser, Meteor, Telstar), AND real cars (6 or more cyl, rear wheel drive, Australian built - in case a definition is required) which would include the P76 and Valiants.

As for fairies 'needing' all wheel drive, we grew up with dirt roads (i.e. mud often) and got by with winter-tread on the back of an XP wagon - too hard for modern man, obviously. Have a vent if you must, but good V8s are still available NEW (or used) in 2014 - if you've got the guts.
What makes me think they're better? You can steer on the throttle!
Ciao.

I have just seen pictures of the new XR8.

Has a bit of an Audi look from the front to me.

It's also going to run the 335 kW donk.

Geez I'd be ****ed if I had a new GT 335 considering they are going to use the same motor to power the last gen. XR8.

Sadly no utes.

For every good decision or move Ford make they seem to make two moves backwards.

Why they never made a tribute version of the GTHO is beyond me.

They certainly have the power plant to do it justice.

I don't think it would have taken anything away from a XY phase 3.

I know it probably doesn't make financial sense but we are losing the Falcon now anyway, f$&k it they should have gone out will a bang I say.

No sorry I was about to board a flight and quickly read and looked at the article,
I think it's the latest Wheels mag.

I just saw the cover grabbed the mag and read the couple of pages regarding the falcon.

I think the turbo with be the same, also they talk about using the last of the German ZF gearboxes before ZF moves to China for production.

Sounds like a headache to me, image in years to come having a Chinese gearbox or is it a German ZF. Sign of the times though.

And before anyone flames me about Chinese made product.
My business has had some trial manufacturing done in China and even with someone on the ground over there which is key, they just can't match quality consistently.

Thats pretty narrow idea of what a real car is. Rules out E63's, WRX, Evo, Supra, etc. Hell it rules out Lamborghini, Ferrari, Audi, AMG Merc, BMW, Jaguar, etc. who all use AWD, sometimes smaller motors, not Aussie built.

4x4 utes are just good all rounders, suitable family cars with a tray giving plenty of storage/load carrying capacity. A Falcadore is not all things to all people, its nothing to most people honestly.

Yeah that wheels mag one has been out a few weeks, as a gt owner I can't say I'm annoyed as it's natural progression really, look at the ba/bf gt 290's, they ended up as the fg xr8

Just means if I could afford to I'd keep the gt as is and buy a fh xr8 to mod !

Awww, you believed what Wheels printed...?

The picture on the cover is just a Taurus with FG doors. The car does not look like that. Everything they have printed is just speculation. Ford will reveal the new Falcon in the near future.

Not sure what you are expecting here, if you want a large car with a decent straight six you will get a big bonnet, and "overhang".

There is no way that they will redesign the platform for a single model.

Personally I do not have a problem with it, as it still matches or betters the handling of any price/power/size compatible 6.

Yes, the overhang has cost me a "splitter" (does anyone know a good plastic welder and painter in the MacArthur region in Sydney ? - pm me) - but it is not ugly - and it cannot be expect that that would change without the shift to a v6, and a renewed platform.

It could have been very easily though, didn't require much work at all, and that was with, and without direct injection.

Too bad the DI version never made production in the future, it would have been a ball tearer, especially in turbo form.

All this talk of Government assistance. One of the ways the Government could have assisted at no cost, would be to exempt local manufacturers from these environmental law changes every few years. Easy.

For FG update, the government paid $13 million of the $21 million needed to develop the Euro 4 version of the I-6...

Face Book Support the new 2014 Ford Falcon

Mark Winterbottom answered my question live!
He said he drives by the Ford plant everyday, and he said the new 2014 Falcon looks really cool!

He is like the 10 tenth person who has seen it and told me they love it!
