We have a specialist doctor who likes to come in and demand discount on a couple of $4.00 flower pots. Every time kicks up a stink about being a loyal customer and that he should get special discount. This idiot also told my boss, who has over 40 years' experience, that you could learn everything there is to know about gardening in 2 weeks. Thing is, how would he like it if one of his patients asked him to discount his services? Sure as hell he wouldn't entertain the thought. He took the time to learn his trade, and he charges accordingly. Likewise, my colleagues and I have done the same. The difference being we are not getting rich off selling pot plants to doctors.

Sounds like the idiot with the 1-series who came back to the workshop last week. “Ever since you replaced my tyres, the battery has been going flat”.
True story. I suspect he’d been quoted by BMW for a new battery ($730 RRP, I checked) to replace the original eight year old unit, and was fishing for a person to wear the cost. |

lately I've been seeing newish 300 series Landcruiser's with a fibreglass body kits bolted to them, front spoiler, rear whale tail, rear air dam and lower side skirts.
There I was thinking the point of owning these vehicles is to have ground clearance. I guess next we'll be seeing lakepipes on them.

…That utterly insincere exclamation via the word “Wow” is so prevalent on house makeover shows?
It could make a good beer shots game, everyone would be legless before show’s end. |

I'm wanting to watch the matildas but find watching soccer so hard.
Why is it that whenever a soccer player gets tackled, they carry on like their leg has been chopped off, until they get the penalty and then they are miraculously instantly cured? So annoying.

And speaking physical sports generally, why is it that people who watch these “healthy” pastimes on TV, frequently eat junk food whilst so doing?

Subliminal advertising, sponsorship. Just look at how Macdonald's gets them in.

Why is it American's add a "g" when pronouncing "Luxury"? As in "Luguary".
Or adding a "w" to "Jaguar"? As in "Jagwuar".

I have trouble with correct pronunciation of bechamel. To me it looks like a Middle Eastern word, so the ch should be pronounced like a “kh”.

Aluminum instead of aluminium. I mean, if it's just too hard to pronounce, just drop a letter

Why is it that people don't take into account thermal mass, thermal radiation or thermal reflection when landscaping their house?
This house is facing almost directly to the north west. With the lack of eaves and shading to the large windows to the living areas, this place is going to be a sweat box during summer. I get why they've done what they've done, but when does convenience outweigh on gong costs of cooling? I'm sure if I raised with the builder, who now lives in the house, he'd just say hell run a/c and it will all be fine The mind boggles.

Why is it Ghislaine Maxwell is in jail for providing a criminal service but none of her clients are with her for using that same service?

We do have to remember that jail is for all the small fish, so the big fish can get on with their lives in the real world without being bothered by the small ones Sure they get a big one every now and then, but its easier to catch the little ones and make a big song and dance about it. |

Why is it when you see a reciprocating saw fitted with a metal blade slice straight through nails in timber on the telly, but in real life it takes a lot of effort?

The garden in a new build is always an afterthought. They build the biggest house they are allowed to, then expect miracles on plant selection to fit very tightly defined spaces left for garden. Think a 300mm gap along the driveway, then wanting a plant to screen the fence that won't grow too wide or need pruning. There are literally two choices, but most expect to be able to custom design a plant to suit those restrictive requirements in the same way they did choosing kitchen cabinets or door hardware. Another, wanting a shade tree that only grows 3 meters tall so that it won't drop leaves in the gutter or annoy the neighbor. First of all, there is very little choice in evergreen trees that only grow to 3 meters, generally those are called shrubs. Also, 3 meters is not going to shade di.k! But try telling that to someone who has, again, spent the last 12 months choosing from a never-ending array of bathroom fittings and tile choices. So, that picture above is common. Low maintenance is what its called, one that will lead to the A/C running all summer long.

One day, the wind was blowing hard, making it near impossible to get every last leaf that was coming down from the shedding Camphor Laurels. Old mate comes out and starts having a hissy fit about the mess coming into his driveway. I had had enough and was already aggravated by the wind, so I screamed at him that "it's bloody nature mate, what do you expect me to do........." or words to that effect. He disappeared then. There also seems to be an assumption that leaf blowers are just a noisy nuisance that move mess from one spot to another. As in, out onto the road or into the next-door neighbor's yard. When used by some lazy old pri'k, then that can be the case. For someone who makes a living from using a leaf blower as efficiently as possible, there is no way a pro is going to do that and risk bad word of mouth. I once had a nosy woman come and tell me to stop blowing leaves and twigs onto the road. That's something I have always been conscious of NOT doing from the very beginning of my business 20 years ago. What this stupid woman didn't account for was the gum tree that creates this mess constantly sheds all over the road and surrounding pavement. When I would blow out the gutters and surrounding areas back onto the lawn prior to cutting, she was seeing the clean area next to the uncleaned road and assumed I had blown it into the street. I'm a diligent tradesman and often go beyond what is required, but I AM NOT CLEANING THE ENTIRE ROAD just for her.

The owner witnessed this display, just looked at the ground “Yep, cut it off” in a defeated manner.
