Slow uber drivers, looking for something/someone.
Non indicating drivers, who drive from rest or stop without warning. Particularly annoying as a pedestrian, when you have no idea what their intentions are. All caravans. All volvo/audi/mercedes/bmw/renault/citroen drivers. Suvs. Groups of cyclists talking loudly. All kitted out 4wds used as daily drivers. Multiple stickers on the back window. Doof doof music. 'My family' stick figures. Unloved, unwashed cars. Neglected modern classics, say all fgx falcons. Criminal. Commodores with steelies. Hsvs. Teslas. Most diesel cars. Items hanging from the rear view mirror. 'I'm ..... and i vote' stickers. Abc supporters. Smug car show owners describing how cheaply they bought the classic car now worth six figures. Stuffed animals protruding through the closed boot/hatch. Driving 10 below the limit. Driving right up my ginger because youre in a hurry. Sharp braking in heavy 4wds. Shattering glass. Fast and furious, one hand on the steering wheel. Slow merging on a freeway, at less than the posted limit. Right land road hogs. Middle lane road hogs. Refusing to move to the left lane even when clear. Parking right next to me when theres hundreds of other free spaces. Parking so close i cant get into my car. Speeding through car parks as a rat run. Failing to stop at a pedestrian crossing, such as the ones in a car park. Playing chicken with pedestrians already on a crossing. Screaming up behind when im stopped at a red light. Stopping 2 inches behind at a traffic light. Tailgating to a standstill at a red light. Aggressive lane changes. Failure to merge correctly after an intersection. Pulling out from a side road then dawdling. Stopping an entire lane in peak hour so you can turn right rather than continuing to the next right turn slip lane. Having to write a business case for a pool car, and being told theres no garage space in the building.

Sorry I thought it was illegal, but apparently not. However it has to be very dangerous to back 6-8 metres of truck out into a traffic stream,so if not illegal it would have to be classed as unsafe, and so shouldn’t be allowed

If you're driving in the left lane on a 2 lane each way road there is no need to swing wide into half of the right lane to make a simple turn. Cars are designed to turn and it's not a B-Double. I've seen some people swing out so wide I could undertake them on the inside.

Intolerant drivers of any sort on the road? (or members in this forum! .. oh, no, I don't really mean that.)
But seriously, there was a QLD plated car in front of me this morning (and they ended up parking in my building's car park)... They did indicate right and then left to go straight through the 3 tiny round-about's on my way to work. Yep, those ones are so small, I could see the "ACT" drivers opposite stopping because the QLD'er had a right turn indicator on which on a small round-about was easily seen from their side. I wish I was making this up. But yeah, this thread was about a "pet hate", not a long list of them. I'd be more interested in hearing which of them "was the one". Since there's plenty round-abouts in the ACT, I'd say those drivers who hog the right-hand-lane in front of me, but don't end up overtaking the clearly slower car in front of us that actually stayed in the left lane. You really are an Anchor. (I didn't mean to write that word.) |

I also have a new one.
People using headphones in cars. Ambulance with sirens behind this clown today and he had no idea (obviously wasn't looking in mirrors either for lights) Should be illegal imo. He literally held it up for a minute or so - that could be the difference in an emergency |

I run my Xenons daily just to be safer.
They aren't bright at all (look much better compared to the cheap white LED stuff imo) But the 4wds with that long bar LED thing in bumper is WAY too bright. They like being 1 metre off bumber in traffic with it on....... Last edited by MercuryT; 13-03-2021 at 07:35 PM. |

What about all the brain surgeons in the front passenger seat with their feet on the dashboard or better still feet out the window. |

Drivers who put a sheet of newspaper or towel on the side window. I’ve been told that they don’t want to be sunburnt or tanned by the sunlight coming through the side window. Apparently in some cultures being sun tanned is just not on. The fact that you cant see that bloody big truck on right is not an issue.
And while not a pet hate, what’s with some women who put the seat belt under their arm, not over their shoulder? |

truck drivers that park all the way to the edge of a driveway, making it impossible to see whether it's safe to exit a driveway without ending up in the middle of the road.

Maybe those trucks needed all that space to the end of the driveway.
To open barn doors at the rear. Or lay a tailgate down to unload. Or lay a ramp down in the case of new furniture/ removals. All these activities mean the drivers need a space of maybe 1.5 to 3 metres behind the truck depending on the type of load/unload. |

Drove down to Traralgon and back today (about 50 kms each way). There's a section of road about 5 km long that is in the process of being resurfaced. Part of it was sign posted as 40 km/h. I was doing about 50 km/h, following the car in front of me by at least 5 car lengths, as there was a possibility of loose stones being flung up.
A 4wd ute comes flying up behind me, doing at least 80 km/h and then sits within two car lengths of me (figured he was the one that would cop any loose stones thrown up so didn't worry about how close he was). The car in front of me only sped up to 80 km/h at the end of the decreased speed zone, where the resurfacing had be redone recently, but had been swept and was posted at 100 km/h. So, we get to the end of the resurfaced area, where the road splits back into a dual carriageway, two lanes on each side. I speed up to about 103 km/h, but see the ute behind me has also pulled into the right lane behind me and is still sitting close to me. I speed up to 107 km/h to try and get a little bit if distance between us, but he just stays about one to two car lengths off my back bumper. Not wanting to go too much faster but wanting him to get off my ar$e, I lightly touch the brake pedal, lighting up the brake lights, hoping he'd just back off a smidge. Instead, he stays exactly where he was. As soon as i pass the slower car, I pull back into the left lane, and this moron drives past me clearly yelling abuse at me. I gesture back to him that he shouldn't have sat so close to me. Expecting him to pull away, I set the cruise control at 103 km/h (my normal speed in the XR8), and settle in for the rest of the drive. To my surprise, the ute gets about 5 seconds in front of me, and then slows down a little. Hoping that it's not going to turn into a road rage incident (I had my ex and my daughter on board with me), I prepare to disengage the cruise control and back off a bit. But no, he settles in at about 102 km/h, which means I slowly catch up to him. Luckily, there's a town not far away (Rosedale) and I need to slow down to 60 km/h for the local streets. In town, I pass him on the dual lane divided road, and he stays behind me the rest of the way from Rosedlae to Traralgon (about 25 km away). So, when I was doing 107 km/h to pass the slow car, that wasn't fast enough for this moronic driver, but 103 km/h was too fast for him on the open road? I just don't get the logic that some people drive with at times

People speeding down the inside left lane, getting to the end where 'THEY' need to merge and demand that the car that has been waiting in traffic for 5mins, just allow them in by pulling their car across.
I call this the AR_EHOLE lane for a reason!!!!! |

Perhaps I should adopt that approach as well; might be received as a little less aggressive than a touch of the brake pedal!

They generally pass and then slow down once they've satisfied their inner Brock. Then you've got the need to be offended brigade who'll speed up to sit on your clacker just so they can protest your holding them up, then pass and slow down. It happens daily. |

My number one pet hate is people who stop at an empty roundabout when there is nothing coming... Grrrr It's a give way sign, not a frigging stop sign... Morons Number two pet hate, when two lanes are designated to turn left, the driver on the inside always seems to wander into my lane causing me to brake heavily, running the risk of being rear ended... Number three, drivers who don't know how wide there car is. IE, two lane road. Car parked on left. Car in front panic brakes cause they think they will not fit between the centre line and said parked car... /Rant off |
