Pro-am tournament day, the result of six weeks preparation from the guys and girls in the greenkeeping team.
All worth it after being able to pin top gear on the old Honda quad down a crisp fairway at dawn this morning.

Seriously though, looking good. Most wouldn't understand how much technical thought / effort that goes into that sort of thing.

Rallye, very nice.
Love the tree middle of the fairway ! Thank god I got to mow my lawns this morn before more storms. 2wks overdue and with the rain last night mowing morning grass took me twice as long but so glad its done, looks great.

Actually looking forward to playing with the new Makita mower and Husky brushcutter . The golf course work is awesome ..Looks amazing . Yep , that tree would be a real magnet for balls wouldn't it . It would for me . I am on a first name basis for every single tree on our course because I visit them so often . Great work guys . |

Cheers guys.
The trees a cracker, on the other side is a view over the Swan river, to the port city of Fremantle and out to the ocean. Humbling to think it probably watched the convicts sail in.

What would be the best product if any to support the lawn coming into the warmer months, I cut mine (couch grass mix) in the highest mower setting and try to keep a bit of water on it every few days but always end up with large areas dying off.
Also has its fair share of general weeds mixed in with it, any of the spray on lawn booster/weed killers worth a look? |

Dry spots could be a number of things. Not sure if you guys get water repellent soil like we do in WA but maybe try some soil wetter and/or punching some holes with a fork to get the water down.
Check the retic uniformity and rates with some catch cups. About 10mm twice a week, once again WA conditions, should keep couch going well. Also check the wind isn't affecting the sprinklers. Hope that helps as a start.

https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Lawn-Aer...gtHE:rk:2:pf:0. we used it years ago on the bowls green .. Aerating particularly dry ground and later scarifying the lawn to dethatch helps the whole lawn. Even if you don't want to buy something like this https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Lawn-Aer...gtHE:rk:2:pf:0 make a home made block of wood with spikes/nails and attach a handle to help water penetrate to reach the root zone as Rallye Sport mentioned . Never tried these but can't possibly hurt in this regard too . https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Rolling-....c100005.m1851 .. OR......https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Lawn-Aer....c100005.m1851 ..Don't step on the dog's tail though !!!!!!!!!!!! Yelp .... Last edited by roddy1960; 24-12-2018 at 08:02 AM. |

Most are to me I love just being out there. One of my fav courses has similar but at the 1st hole ! par 4. Tree is just 10m from green what a PIA lol...... Mowed yesterday - we have had so much rain in Syd the last weeks everything is green as looks great. I needed to replace a very reliable Oziko electric blower, it was cutting out, had it for over 10yrs for that Bunnings price not bad imo. I've moved to 1250sp m new place just a year ago, bush aspect and many gums/turpentines etc. Alot of cleaning when wind etc so having done my homework I decided I decided bugga battery ones, they just don't last long enough for the area I cover, extra batteries **** me off. Decided to go back to 2stroker - Ryobi 25.4 jet blower no vac, I just wanted a dedicated strong blower. Lightweight balanced design, esy start obviously being new, max blow up to 340odd k's. Used it yesterday and today, brilliant loving it.

yes mate agree, the later than usual rain has us out there to avoid a twice longer job than normal.
I don't get how some leave it till its shin height and more but then again they probably don't wash their cars as much as well etcetc.... I sometimes think are they smarter or not ? Some see maintenace as such a chore whereas I see it as normal, looking after your properties/cars/house etcetc.....

Christmas lawn run yesterday and today. Sunny and 38 degree heat
Ranger earned her keep today, running full up. Whilst I tend to mulch most of my regular lawns, some need to be caught and bagged. Results from 3 of said lawns below - Buggered right now, and back into on Thursday.

Over 220mm recorded in my rain gauge so far this month, followed by the lovely hot days with high humidity, the yard grass loves. Would be worse further north of me, with ex tropical cyclone Owen adding to their rainfall. Big queues at the local tip with green waste over the weekend also shows there has been some mowing happening |

I was given an Ozito blower, sucker and mulcher (sounds like my ex) for last xmas and used it for the first time a couple of weeks back - awesome kit for what I suspect only cost $50 to $75. Actually the first time I used it was to clean my computer out. Better than a compressor, no chance of water spraying onto your system from condensation - unless you got a filter of course. |

My XR6 got a prezzie too . I bought her a new GPS . Made by XGODY..This is the second one I've bought . The first one is really good to use for an after market one and not expensive . Was cheap too. Big screen also ,almost too big actually. . The AU ll will get the original one to replace the old Navman because the touch screen has gone haywire and it's as useless as mammaries on a bull now but it is pretty old . Back on mowing . I've mixed my fuel 40:1 for the Husky brushcutter and running beautifully . How'd you get on with your Husky in that regard . |

I'm all for trying anything different but this machine has me a little bewildered to be honest .
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_kZzYPcxKuI .. I'd reckon a good normal brushcutter would be just as quick and less messy for this sort of work . Anybody had use of this sort of gear to convince me otherwise . |
