Holden have made public their strategy to update the engines of the Commodore in 2009 & the bodywork in 2010, I wonder if HSV's plan is in reverse? There's really no need for them to lift the power of their engines this year as they've already got the marketing edge over the Boss.

You'd think they'd want to have something up their sleves come Coyote.

if your right that might mean body mods now - GTS gets updated 327kw engine and R8 gets an upgrade later. question then would be where then for GTS?

HSV have another "special" coming.. im just not sure if its the VE2 series GTS or if it will come later.
Talk was a watered down version of the W427 as a "regular" MTO or as a special GTS, or just "the" GTS.

It makes sense that they'd want to leverage the R&D costs spent on W427 against other products. Although you think something significant would have to change with their pricing structure to keep costs down (i.e. how watered down would it be). Would there be many takers for a GTS over $100K?

In my mind Std spec body kit, a "budget" wet sump 7l with 20 od more kw and std HSV driveline and special suspension would make sense.. it would keep it under 100k too.
It has been discussed, albeit a while ago.

I heard the same, but 327kW for the GTS.

Will they use the detuned LS7 to coincide with FPV's big daddy?

GTS-R?

Bring it on!

If the GTS gets 327kw then that was what i heard 18 months ago..
Yes would be nice to see the GTS-R return!

I have been told a very similar thing a little while ago.

Personally, I reckon it is a good concept, but gee wiz, the HSV patrons (those that actually bye the cars, as opposed to the wannabe bogans) must grow weary of the constant model updates.

Some of those people must have serious wads of cash to burn to update to the new version every 18 months / 2 years.... half their luck.

Is it not unrealistic that Ford and Holden (and FPV and HSV) talk to each other a bit about their future plans?

That's what I think also, burnz, but it seems like they are often making similar moves. Maybe it's just that they compete so closely with each other.

Would be great to see a GTS-R - especially in the yellow with black rims/bits and pieces. Loved the original ones.

You mean this GTS-R?

Can't say it has aged well...

Anyway I doubt HSV would seperate the GTS from the rest of the range with 5-8kws, that is pretty underdone for HSV especially with the pictures of the supposed bodykits on the E2's.

A bit hard to tell how it will look in the flesh, but it seems a bit busy looking. Might have looked better with the leds directly under the lights.

Like following the cut out for the Aux lights around the bottom? Yes I agree.

The LEDs are covering up mini eyebrows aka the FG XR range and there is a bit to FPV in the splitter design. The "mouth" design will also feature in the exhaust tips.

I don’t mind it. Add lower ride height and the fact HSV don’t stuff wheel often, it looks to have made the job of the GT-P that much harder again.

Reminds me of the FPV fronts, but I hate the fact that they are using the XBGT/early Mach1 Mustang bonet vents. The reason I hate it because I love it! yes it's a little over the top but I think it has been done tastefully. Love the continued use of LED's as well. Reminds me of the Audi's. I wish FPV would so something more interesting with lighting, both front and back.

dont like where the LED's are placed on the front appron. Looks more like an afterthough..Unlike the audi which is incorporated in with the headlights.. Like bonnet, but then again looks to busy..just have to wait for the final product when it hits the streets..

What a dogs breakfast!

If you lost the bonnet vents, and the headlights were a more organic, flowing shape it would look good. The LED running lights are a nice touch but overall (coupled with the horrendous rear end treatment) this thing comes across as a Bogans idea of what an expensive 'european and that' sports saloon should look like. Its annoying that the cutout in the frontbumper is similar to tge FG/global Ford front cutout, butthe little 'eyebrows' above the foglights are 'so now' everybodys doing them.

Im glad the FPVs are just a little underdone but with beautiful flowing lines and tasteful detailing (i like the panda eyes but ill agree their a little austentacious)

As for the VS GTSR... It looks like an ex taxi with autobarn ricey mods. The'hideous' EL GT was in a class of its own as an overall product (a little slow maybe)

Oh, that's what I like about it. _2: Same reason I like this also I guess, but this one's about $80k more expensive and has a much more exclusive badge.

I don't know really, I have always seen the vented bonnet and even the vented front guards as a Holden thing, bit like the bonnet bulge is a ford thing, sure the XA had em but the HT had em first. I think that the bonnet bulge is more pronounced in this pic rather than the vents anyway. The XB definitely had more integrated vents but they also used the bonnet bulge extremely well to accentuate them.

I have to say that they are both tuff looking cars! With out one, you dont get the other!

AS for the E-2, well I think that there is definately a blurring of the lines between the FPV models as Well

As I said, with out one, you dont get the other!

Busier than a one handed bricklayer in Baghdad.

It looks like HSV have tried to incorporate every possible performance design cue every created and jam them into the one car.

Gay side vents - Check
Bonnet vents - Check
Ripoff Audi LED running lights - Check
Ripoff Ford kinetic design front bar opening - Check
Ridiculously oversized flares - Check
Total bogan appeal - Check
