Unfortunately, smacking is assault.....So it's being taught in schools as being such....If your school isn't, it is well behind the times. (not that I agree with smacking being an assault)

Incorrect.... Excessive smacking is assault... I have had to report a few incidents over the years and only repeated or over the top smacking ever gets followed up... If at all.

My mates 3 year old is currently laughing in their face when they disceplin them.

Took away their toys thinking "that'll teach em".... kid goes outside and plays with the pegs in the peg basket.

I'm glad I don't have kids yet

By the sounds of it, some of the "authorities" around your area need the smack to get themselves into gear....be it the police, or the Dept of family services (or what ever they're known as in your neck of the woods.)

A threat of violence or carrying out the act is classed as a criminal act (ie assault).....ie, you threaten to hurt someone, it's verbal assault....you actually strike someone, it's assault.....leave a bruise, it's upgraded to assault causing harm.....so forth and so forth.

I mightn't agree with it, but unfortunately, that's the way it is these days.
