Yes a new Porsche would beat the old Porsche in power, handling, brakes, styling, electrics or whatever. That's call car evolution. And I doubt that AMG or Porsche owners would scoff at the older models and the owners. As some of the older models are classics. And if you want "Status" go for a drive in an old car from the Australian Muscle Car Era. Like an XYGT Falcon or an R/T Charger. And see how many looks you will get to compared to a modern Porsche or AMG. I think you would be very surprised. |

I must say between this and another warranty claim thread on here I think the mods have been more accepting lately and its much appreciated as there seems to be abit of humor

So I paid a little extra to get the tidiest lowest KM one. Im almost 22 and should have logically put my money elsewhere but it was something I always wanted as a kid.

Some people like cars with a few years on them so they can customise them a little without the drama of warranty. Some people like really old cars to restore and make new. They love to drive them and they really get attention when you drive down the road. I understand if you're a little preoccupied with status, that fine, but remember it's your issue. Other don't have that sort of hangup and don't require a car for self confidence. I'm not sure how much of your posts are serious thought bubbles or if you are trying to bait others into discussion. If you're serious I'd suggest you stop and assess where you are in life

In your way of thinking a N/A FG 2008 model trumps your Bf XR6T Hulk?

One thing I could never do is base a decision on what my neighbours or friends thought.
What a sad existence it would be to have your life controlled by the expectations of others.

A 20 - 25K car is sort of like what happens with mobile phones.
You buy one knowing it will be of little value in a 5 years, pay it off and start again with the latest model. 4 - 5K a year is not so bad for a new/newish car that is under warranty / fixed services ect.

The first paragraph you talk about status and wanting to get attention with an old car.. The second you critique me for being preoccupied with status? Others dont require a car for self confidence.. but you contradict yhis in your first paragraph. Are you confused? |

Thats why you need to ask pertinent questions to flush out the bluff/fake. I own my cars 100%, no finance on depreciating assets for me. If you have to get finance to buy a car, (Non business use) can you really afford it? My mates who buy new cars mostly have their own business and can claim most of their expenses through their business. Great if you have a good business to pay for the vehicle. But for the private guy (usually young guy) buying a new car on finance, copping all the depreciation and interest on the chin.. financial suicide. |

Well that throws a spanner in the works and makes it an even harder choice between the two. I’d have to phone a friend to see what they’d prefer I drive.

Whenever I cruise into the country, I think I see more sheep as I leave Melbourne than all of country Victoria combined.
