People will cross shop the Mustang with EU coupes..id put money on that.

The Mustang (even though its a lowly Ford) has far reaching potential than just V8 Ford owners. Which is perhaps why you dont actually see the Ford oval on it...which is a shame for me but you can understand why.

Easy, mercs can be very ugly, doesn't make them a bad car, just not one to some people's taste.

Having said that some are also very tastefully sexy.

Considering it will be the only RWD V8 you can buy under $150k at the end of 2017 its not bad...
The Eco-boost is driving out the door in the US with the power pack and a few extras as well for 29k !
At 39K here in Aus I would snap it up.
And I think it would be a winner in sales as well. Imagine seeing all those new pony's on the streets ?

I will probably be cross shopping an Audi and the Mustang end of next year.. the missus wants a convertible. (at this stage anyways)

so it will be most likely be between an fully loaded S3 (84k driveway) and Convertible Mustang GT (70k?? + ORC). and sounding like they will be simular price points.

So I don't think the price point ford is putting the mustang at, is that bad, when you compare it to the Australian market (where we live) and not the American market.

My 300c Luxury was about 10-15k more then then model in the States, which I find acceptable, considering where it sits in the Australian market place.

84K seems high for an S3.

Granted it's not a convertible but my son recently picked up a new S3 hatch (Sepang Blue with the Blackout Pack) for $69K driveaway from the Audi dealer at Moore park (Sydney)

it was just something cheap and wasn't planning on having it long, when I first finished school to get around in to and from work etc, as you can see, I had it for 5months, once I had a full time job, I got my 2004 Ford falcon XR6.. the proton was an average car... but it did the job I needed it to.

Yea the convertible is a bit $$$.

$69k is about right for the hatch, the sedan is a little more (as newer) then the hatch and then convertible is a little more again... then with the euros you have to add the options on (sports package or whatever its called) which adds LED headlights, Better interior (diamond patten leather seats) and better stereo, power folding mirrors and etc.

again, I am only quoting RRP (carsales.com), as haven't looked at wheeling and dealing yet.

Guys my ford rep was out today, ford is wanting to get an idea of what we need to order,

Ford aus has currently expecting 1400 till end of 2015, they want to know what mix they should get,

I was told that melbourne is thinking 80-90% fastback, and around 30-40% ecoboost, which allows 60-70% v8.

Can you guys give me some feedback to take back to him. Need to know auto man, fastback or convertible, v8 or ecoboost.

They don't want to get it wrong, ford USA aren't limiting what we can order, but ford aus only wants to order what they expect to sell. Just let me know so I can take it back to them.

Thanks.

They aren't trying to please the masses, only the buyers, and at 60-65k plus on roads of about 6k, would you buy one? And if so, shoot me an email ill get you one haha. They wanna hear from people genuinely interested in purchasing. So that instead of having 250 auto convertibles that no one wants they can have cars that people actually want

Depends when fords going to deliver them. We're all waiting but we're in the market now. By December next year I could be in something else already and you'll be dealing with the next wave of buyers. I'm struggling with the idea of waiting another 12 months for a product the yanks already have

Correct yanks do have them, in LHD. RHD is not available, they are still making the tooling to begin production. People are always buying, but you then have to think. Are you going to be sitting in whatever you buy now, and in 12 months have a mustang go past you and you wish you did wait, the mustang is something special. Defiantly worth the wait if you can afford one.

Still making the tooling ? Ford have really disappointed me with this. i think most of us expected a wait between the US and local deliveries but waiting over a year is over the top after such a long media campaign building the car up. Add to that, that most of us dont want the basic GT but the performance version that will surely follow it and we're how far down the road ? late 2016 ? damn I could buy another car today and probably be ready to buy again by then!

To answer your question 65k isn't too much for a gt350 fastback manual but I'll be waiting to see when it'll be available and what else comes out in the interim

They're talking performance packs as standard, on both v8 & ecoboost. As its euro spec and that's what they're getting.
But nothing on the gt350,
pros and cons to the wait, pros, at least by the time we start to receive cars the bugs are identified and ironed out, performance mods are on the market and ready to bolt in. Cons, we have to wait. Realistically we are looking at 3rd quarter 2015.
But only if your talking to your dealer and getting the car you want ordered, so start communicating around April/may.
And provide me with the mix to feed back to them.

Just send the Hennessy black mustangs over here in bulk, and don't forget to leave the price at $59,990 everyone can dream I suppose, expect to pay over 60k gentlemen the options is where they will get us, as mustang buyers usually like to tick all the boxes...

I’m not in the market to buy one but if I was and I’d heard a rumour of a GT350 or any other higher spec performance version becoming available soon after or 12 months or so from the initial model release, I’d definitely hold off on a GT to see if that was true.

I know that would be hard for the early adopters but for someone like me who doesn’t need to be first in line and is happy to let the bugs be sorted and can’t afford to change cars at every new model release, a year’s wait could mean I can have something a little extra special in my garage.

Tbm1121 - If the XR8 is anything to go by it will seem a 50/50 mix between auto and manuals for the GT's.

The convertibles I don't really see as being popular in AUS. Even other manufacturers such as BMW, VW, Mercedes etc even struggle to sell convertibles here.

Eco boost is the interesting one and I'm in the dark about. I still think 50/50 on the transmission mix but not sure on the mix between V8 and turbo 4.

My brother and I will be buying a manual GT for a weekender in 2016.

Personally, I could easily see myself in one of the new Mustangs. I'd even trade my FG GT for it. BUT, and this is a big but, I'd find it hard to commit to a GT Mustang (even with the performance pack standard) when there is the possibility of a GT350 or even more hi-po a GT500-ish model soon after...

The interior looks like a very nice place to live and the tech and features leave my FG for dead...not to mention the NA 5L has similar power to my SC 5L, so a SC variant of the new Stand would be amazing. If they come to Aus and are reasonably priced, count me in!

It's possible there may be a reveal of the GT350 next week.

Ford Racing have already released a teaser.

Realistically though, how much more would people be willing to pay in aus for the gt350 over a standard gt, especially when you look at the aftermarket products already on display for them, like at sema, our possibilities will be endless for modifying, if we want to.
