Took a Volvo P1800ES for a drive.
My brothers latest purchase. Something wrong though, very much down on power, 2litre fuel injected, but so sluggish. Some investigative work to be done. Gorgeous looking car though.

No idea, not that clued up on euro cars.
I do know previous owner recently replaced fuel pressure regulator or something like that. So I'm guessing might be the issue.

Marty - yeah, she is good. I took it easy on her She did her cruciate ligament, had surgery to repair and is slowly walking around under supervision. Mr G6ET - she has had a very quiet week this week. No kids, the other dog on holiday at my parents, me working from home so she has either been confined to a small area or on a lead (even in the back yard)

Finally owning a Ford again feels pretty good.
Ripped my work pants jumping off the tow truck so I'm back in the office in shorts and that feels pretty damn good too haha

Finally sorted a misfiring Citroën. Dead coil pack, made harder by diagnostic gear not talking (no idea why, yet). Looking forward to less cars out the front!

Chuckling at the juxtaposition of junk mail this morning.
An evangelical leaflet headed something like “What will you do when the time comes?” Accompanied by a card/magnet from a plumber stating “We will be there for you in an emergency”… |

Started to do the known maintenance stuff for a pink slip on my 08 fairmont ghia today so it will pass. Both parking lamps in the front were blown, theyre easy, i paid servo tax for those, so $3 per side, not terrible. My passengers side low beam was out. I have small girlish hands, but still it was an airbox out job just to get the details. Technical tap. But i did put it back in because i dont want crud, dust or anything into the headlight housing. Not that its going to work further then the first bump i hit, i gave the dual fillament h4 a technical tap. So thats that. Need an off the shelf h4. Nothing terrible. I did however, having to remove the airbox, shake it out. It was full of rocks and god knows what. The airfilter, its a k&n and my brother is a motorbike guy, so he cleanened and re oiled it for me a few weeks back so it was mint. Clean as. So, what i did learn is. When adjusting my headlights, my stock ghia has iluminated window switches. Just the front doors, but who cares about those in the back? Thats what window lock is for.

I guess that's the beauty of being self employed in a rare trade. I get to choose.

I went out for lunch with my mum today, and she didnt want to go in my car. Reason being, my aunty drove it a few months back and is a known lead foot. The fastest car she has ever owned is a toyota corolla, and whilst an 08 fairmont isnt a fast car, she told my mum somethings up with it because whenever she took off a dash light would flash and the rear end would thump. I had to explain that thats called traction control. My car doesnt do that if you drive normally. My mum, even though ive had the car for a decade, i dont think has ever been in it. She likes it. She is only slight, but theres a lot more room in the interior then her little compact mercedes. And the seats are wider. Plus you dont have to argue about real estate on the centre arm rest. Never thought my snobby mum would appreciate what could be described as a bogan chariot.

I got all my work done and looks like I have done better than expected despite the dev servers being a POS for the last two weeks!
Also because it is wet so I use that as an excuse not to clean the house |

More feel relieved than feel good.
As my father's dementia progresses, inhibitions are stripped away. Sometimes it’s not-so-cool stuff, like persistently hoicking at the table. Today though, in reasonably coherent speech he told of how he’d been raped by his sports teacher at the age of about seven. This pulled together a lot of loose ends in my wondering about some aspects of his behaviour in life overall, and some of the obsessive stuff that has fluctuated since he started to lose his marbles. I do feel historical sympathy for him - it would have been a terrible experience - but also relief that my hunch was on course and that we can now go forward with a slightly clearer idea of “triggers” to avoid where possible. |
