Just to add my $0.02 I wouldn't go any bigger than 245 on a 7" rim. That will give you the best part 1" of side wall bulge which is heaps. I have 265's on 8" rims and the side wall bulge is 1". Any more than that and while it arguably may look good it would be a pig to drive.

Can some of you do me a massive favour and take this measurement of their coupes on both sides....
Just doing some calcs for my offset and want to make sure my rebuilt arches are not too different to a standard coupe. Thanks Heaps ! |

If its any help specs on my wheels are
FRONTS - 4.73" (120) mm backspace. REARS - 4 7/8 (123.82) mm backspace.

Hey guys i picked these up the other day, They are 15x10.5" with a 4" backspace and a huge dish!! Anyone know what they are? I thought they might have been Ansens but the shape of the openings is different??

Been looking around for a set of wheels and keep changing my mind every week.... should i go old school tough look or new wheel look???
In a new wheel would a 18x9 with 6" backspace fit the rear and a 17x8 with 4" for the front? Running standard suspension. Just narrowing down my options. Thanks Adam

Be wary as 18s will be a totally different ride in the old girl 15s will be far more comfortable but a whole new look altogether compared to 18s Myself I have gone for Simmons V5 - old school.... |

I would like a set of Simmons wheels but they are getting hard to find and the price seems to match that. There is a nice set on ebay at the moment but with the starting price of 2K i am sure they will go higher and that's without tyres.
I do like the look at new school wheels. There is 2 sets of wheels I am looking at: 1st is 17x7 with 4.25" backspace for front, 17x8 with 4.75" offset rear 2nd is 17x8 with 4" offset front, 18x9 with 6" offset rear (or same as front 17x8). I am planning on a 255 tyre for the rear for now....due to $$$$. Will this combo work with the offsets? Especially the 18x9, i really like those wheels. I am buying from the US so I would like to know for sure if its going to work before I buy. Cheers.

I think I have confused myself somewhere along the line, I was thinking that a 6" backspace would give a nice deep dish but ofcourse it's the other way around, so the 18x9 are out of the question.

Hi Adam. Hae a read of my post on page 1 of this thread. The rims on the back are 17x9 with a 5+1/8" (130mm) backspace with 255/40x17 tyres and to me they look like bicycle wheels. If you're going to go large diameters such as 17" or 18" you need to go WIDE!! Good luck.

I managed to score a NOS Mickey Thompson N50 x 15 Indy Profile tyre today.
Unfortunately the guy only had one. I am on the hunt for another one if any one knows where I can get one please let us know.

The group C cars ran narrower leaf springs. This gave another half inch each side to play with. Don't know what it would cost to do, but it's another option for you guys hunting big rubber. James

Is there enough meat on them to shave 1/2 inch off the centre?
Thus Making them a 5 inch backspace.

Me & Dominick looked at doing that ,but no there isnt ,So i returned mine n stayed with the 15x8s
You could try a XW diff but lots of stuffing around

You are right George, they were a sort of dull alloy finish with charcoal between the "wires"
15 x 10 with 295/50/15's and NO rolled lips. |

Here is my favourite coup wheel.
These are genuine magnesium bathurst globes from the goss race car. They are 15 * 10.5, and i have a 295 yoki on them. Being magnesium, i don't drive on them often as im worried about breaking them. I still have a good 30mm to the inner guard lip on both sides. I had to space them 10mm on the inside, as they rub on my leaves, but i also have a set of narrowed leaves from that race car, but they are too stiff for the road.
