800+ deaths in Italy.
They are also telling people over 80 don't bother coming to hospital. This isn't something minor.

News suggests actor Tom Hanks and wife Rita Wilson, who are currently in Australia, have tested positive to the COVID-19.
Also, another 2 HAAS F1 team members have been isolated. That's 4 from HAAS, and 1 from McLaren. |

Says who, the WHO? Plenty of evidence coming out of Wuhan contradicting your statement.

Agreed. But I'll make an exception for him and his trash-talking friends like Cluney, Sirus et al.

Found this video pretty interesting. And it's from expert in communicable disease control. Would take a punt and say he has more knowledge of this than the vast majority on here....

There isn't plenty of evidence. One hospital in Wuhan is doing a clinical trial with high-dose vitamin C, and results aren't due until September. Not sure how you have inside knowledge about the success of this trial....

Some symptoms are better not treated. For example, the old runny nose. Do you realise, that is the body's response to flush out the virus? Just use tissues (or that locker of toilet paper you have) to keep comfortable. No drugs needed. Got a cough? Yep, again a response to clear the lung of that little bugger. Cover the mouth and let her rip. Drugs, like Ventolin etc are only necessary for bronchospasm. Antibiotics are an absolute waste of time, unless a bacterial infection takes over where the virus left off. We all know what damage the overuse of antibiotics have done, don't we? Self defence is the best protection, via universal hygiene precautions, wash your hands, use a tissue or handkerchief if coughing or sneezing. Personally I find the elbow rather...yuck.

Got a link? We all know Vitamin C is a help to ward off the cold and flu, but as a cure....nope.

Apparently McLaren Racing has withdrawn from the 2020 Australian Formula One Grand Prix.
Whats next.... Soon the borders will be closed to Europe much the same as the US has done as of tomorrow.

It will be interesting to see what happens in the next week considering what has happened in the last few days. Sure we have had large domestic events up until now but AGP brings in both large domestic fans but mixed in with a lot of flyers in.
I'm big on the stance of taking the medicine up front but obviously that is an easier position to take not being a politician. I do have to say I have a buffer to absorb it and plenty don't. There's going to be a massive effect regardless of what we do in the economy but perhaps we can avoid the worse of the health impacts and the flow on effects from that and prolonging it. An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure as they say and Australia in comparison to Europe and America, we are in a much better position to do this considering we have no land borders. What I have to point is it's all well and good to say we can work from home which is true but the infrastructure is not there where I work and a lot of other businesses. If we go large scale with this I don't think even the NBN has a chance of coping with it anyway and will expose it it as the flop we know it is. It does not matter how prepared business is without the backbone to support it. Sure telcos might be able to boost it but who knows. They are doing the rounds at work saying we don't have the capacity or the licencing to put everyone on VDP so who are your most important people but I have pointed out it would be far cheaper in terms of boosting that capability than not but it's not necessarily that easy. I just logged in and my super has been wiped by $6k in a couple of days in a MySuper option. Just saw the opening bell in the US after an auto trading halt and it is crashing hard.
When Trump made his oval office address I was watching the ASX in anticipation it was serious and sure enough it plunged. |

since testing is limited even here in australia. i can only image the the spread in thrid world countries.
an example, turkey is surrounded by infected countries, but they have just one reported case. north korean isn,t reporting anything. |

We had a crew member join the ship on the 4th March who had flown to Darwin on QF840 and is classed as a "Casual Contact", there's 23 of us on board and we didn't find out until 2 days after sailing, we have just carried on as normal while following recommended guidelines for monitoring everyone on board.
We have 6 days to go before sailing back to Darwin for crew change, no one showing any signs or symptoms as yet so all good so far....

We're in process of sending everyone home, to work from home.
Our NSW office has indicated unless there is justified reasoning to come to the office you are to stay home. One of my clients is working with Fed Dept of Health - having to provision over 2000 new starters to help set up a COVID-19 hotline, trouble is - laptops, not enough around - with businesses sending ppl to work from home there is a large demand for laptops and due to supply chain issues out of China, it is another toilet paper scenario.
