Default Getting t-bar surround to sit flat

Hi all.
Since I replaced my gear shifter a while ago, the front left corner of my t-bar surround has sat about half a centimeter higher than the console. I know that section just presses into the console, it doesn't have any screws, so it's probably a little bit of wear and tear. Do anybody have any suggestions as to how I can get that corner to sit flush with the console?
Cheers

BTW. For those who don't know what I'm talking about, I enclosed a photo. I've cleaned the interior since then

It's just the t-bar surround that's broken is it, because I hope you don't mean replace the console?

It'd be just the surround mate. From memory they have those little washer clip thingies underneath.

I'd forgotten that I'd fixed my T5 surround, coz I was *really* ****ed off when I put it back on last night (doing some patch-up jobs) and the friggen front lifted up again.

You don't have to replace the surround though. If you can be arsed to remove your entire console, flip it upside down & secure the t-bar surround with new washer clip thingies from underneath while it's still fitted. You'll have fun getting the console back on though :P

Thanks Dave. I'm too lazy to take out the console again though! I've had it out twice already!

ha! the centre console would be the easiest thing to take out of the whole interior!!lol!
my cars a manual so that might make the difference as i dont really have to touch the gear stick.
anyway my surround around the manual gear shift has lifted in the same corner too, only sits a tiny bit higher than the console, but im a perfectionist in those sorta things!!lol!not really worried about it tho i guess, its not majorly noticeable, except to me!!lol!

cheers

Yeah it's not too bad to get the console out. Trying to get it back in properly is a bit different though. It'll be even worse when the t-bar surround is attached to it. I'm a perfectionist. A couple of people have noticed it, and it rattles like mad. I've been slowly getting the rattles out of the interior by replacing the busted parts. The interior's looking good now. The t-bar surround is one of the few remaining issues.

so are the auto ones harder to get back in? because with mine i just simply hook it over the gear stick and slide it under the dash and it just falls into place!!the only pain in the a$$ part is the cruise control unit, attaching it i mean, although my cruise control turns on but wont set anyway so there's no point hooking it up all the time!!lol!

i should replace all the busted parts too and try n stop all the rattles! its not too bad but theres a few of em!! oh well...just turn the music up eh!!

cheers

With the autos, there isn't as much room around the gear lever as there is in a manual. On the Ghias, there are a few other things that would make the console harder to get in, like power window switch connectors, etc.

I've been using the music option as well, but I'm running out of good songs!
