Default NSW or ACT Mondy owners - Track Day

Would any NSW or ACT Mondy owners be interested in a Private Track day at Marulan Driver Training Centre (about halfway between Syd and Canberra)

proposed dates are either sat feb 26 or sat march 5.

The XR5 and XR4 forums have provided about 21 of the minimum 25 starters i would like to make this worthwile. cost with 25 will be $120pp (extra for licence or helmet hire requirements)

if you are interested, let me know asap please. i can give you more details if you want but i really need to get 4 or 5 more people. will be posting in other small ford sections too.

Hi mate, dont worry about driving slow. They have different catagories from first timers to regular race drivers & in between so you can go as fast or as slow as you feel comfortable. Its all about learning new skills & having fun.

Being a Driver Training Centre there wont be any races or timed events. Just go out & have fun.

As far as track time goes, I guarentee you will get lots of track time. Ive been to this track 3 times before & you will not go home wishing you had more track time. This is probably the best bang for buck track day around, & an ideal place for first timers.

As far as instructors goes im not 100% but they have them & im sure something could be arranged to have an instructor hop in with you.

I am in for this one, I hope you can make it.

i've never done a track day either, so don't let that worry you.

there is a mandatory driver briefing prior to anyone being allowed on the track. if you are driving, you must attend this briefing. they also walk you around the course first to discuss stuff like braking zones and corner apexes etc...

i'm led to believe there is no overtaking except on the main straight, so if you are going slower, you don't have to be constantly looking in your mirror worrying about lines into and out of corners etc... in fact, i'm told they will try to group you with drivers and vehicles of similar ability. i think that is the key, drive within your limits and you'll have a very enjoyable day.

as neale said, you will get a lot of track time. first cars will hit the track at 9am and we can run until 4pm.

maximum of 6 cars per session. 10min on the track per session which equates to 15 or more laps per session. if we have 25 we will run 5 groups of 5. if we have 30, 5 groups of 6. you'll be on the track every 50min if you want, so in the 7 hours we have the track for, you'll get 80mins (or there-abouts) late in the day, some people may have had enough and you'll be able to have extra time on the track should you want it? i believe neale and one other XR5 forum member had the track to themselves at one stage??

ok, you're on the list!!

will be in touch with details. at this stage we have 27 plus 2 maybes (they're building their car). 27 means $132pp (includes track+instructor+ambulance) and if you need a licence and helmet, that'll be $30 & $20 (with a $50cash refundable deposit) respectively. you only need a licence if you don't have a CAMS licence.

I will be in touch with further details. still hoping for more takers...

Ok latest news...

Track is booked, we are now locked in and should we cancel for any reason in the next 4 weeks, we do 50% of our doe... cancel in the week after that and we lose the lot.

Have been paid by 21 of 24 attendees. Many thanks to those who have paid, please hurry up those who haven't!! ;)

Have been contacted by 4 people who are all keen. if they come along, everybody will receive a refund. If only 24 turn up, unfortunately I'll have to ask each person for another $6 to cover the cost of the 25th spot...

Will be in touch soon with further details.

Thanks again for the support and prompt payment. I'll be better organisd next time, i promise...

sorry to anyone who misses out this time, but after this has been supported so well, we may run another later in the year. thanks for the support.

Hey Broady, well done on the numbers mate. Another date sounds good. Maybe a cold day in July when the turbo is jamming lots of cold air into the motor.
