got a rude shock yesterday. mother in laws focus needed new wipers. no worries i thought.
long story short, you can't buy refills, you have to buy the whole arm!! $35 each. now i may have been able to get them cheaper but i'd left it to the last minute and needed them yesterday so just went to the closest store, which isn't very cheap. i'd hate to think how much genuine ones are. luckily my wife's focus doesn't need wiper blades just yet. i was doing a service on it and who'd have thought the wiper blades would be the most expensive item. looking at the old ones though, i'm sure it'd be possible to slide a new insert into the original frames. anyone done it? |

Following some advice from some here, I cleaned the rubber parts of my wipers with RainX (though you could probably use metho). Amazing amount of black gunk came off, and they're still going strong.

I buy refills from the local Ford dealer. I bought some this week $18.00 for the pair of front rubbers. The come with instructions. Takes abour 5 minutes to replace both. Mine is an LT presumably the same as an LS.

A regular wipe over with metho will help them last a lot longer, as well as improve their operation on the sceen
