Anyone removed one of these successfully?
You know the part where you have to remove the complete lower dash assembly, the centre console assy, most of the wiring and air pipes, the complete top dash, the efi computer, the side triming, air vents, then CUT THE DASH METAL BRACE!? It should be a 5 min job in any other car, I've just pulled the lower dash (glovebox part) aside as I gave up taking the whole dash apart. I've unbolted the air box but can't pull it out because of the metal dash brace. Anyone know how to take it out? It's broken and I always have the vent on. |

Finished. 8 hours, broken stuff and none of the panels matching up as good as it was later. It's all back together again, and if anyone else has to get to that box for repairs, don't bother, sell your car. I've been taking cars apart for 15 years and that has got to be the most pain in the ИИИИ thing to ever get to I've ever seen.

seems a few of these are going lately. Ford should be shot for two crap designs - 1. the heater box and 2. Putting the dizzy and half the heater pipes under the log manifold.

well i have to take the heater box out of my eb later this year to send off the ac to be repaired so im in for a fun time

Rubbish, it isnt that hard if you know what you're doing, ive done the full climate conversion to my XR and it involved dash removal and heaterbox removal. I got everything back together and nothing broke and everything worked first go.
Hardest part to remove was the spring clamps on the heaterhoses. Otherwise its straight forward, time consuming yes. My Skyline is a bigger pain in the *** to work on.
