They run a max of 1.2 bar peak. That's about 17 psi in the old language. Not shabby. They will still be one of the 3 fastest front wheel drive turbos available once the MPS MAzda comes out if that 6.1 second claim is true. The Astra VXR is supposed to do mid to low 6's but it's not the best handler acording to the reports coming out of Europe and it remains to be seen how driveable the Mazda will be with all that power and torque. So far the XR5 Turbo is getting all the praise from Europe, bring on the wheels comparos!!!!!

good to have something new thrown into the works.

Good to know the car manufacturers are taking the small car market a little more seriously.

But ford.... probably dont want a 2.5 litre 5 banger stealing the show away from the GT and Typhoon.

Can you imagine fanging around back streets in a XR5T Focus, leaving most cars for dead on straights and leaving everything for dead through corners... yumm. sounds like my next car

I don't think so, just the Mazda 6 MPS, I think the 3 is just FWD with serious 1st and 2nd gear torque limiting. Would be nice if it was AWD though.

Are u sure they run 1.2Bar of boost? Seems like a tons of boost to run for such a small power output (relativly speaking).

on the boost gague the max is 1.2 bar so they would not run that high i dont think. Dont forget the mazda 3 and focus are very similar as ford own mazda there was even talk they could be produced on the same platform next year

The two cars are already produced on the same platform fordarn, Focus and Mazda 3... the Ford C1 platform, same as the Volve S40.

As for the boost, I can assure you it hits maximum, the guage sweeps the entire range however I apologise, it's a maximum of 1 bar, I checked my photos. There are photos floating around with 1.2 bar and some with 1 bar on the net, the car I drove had a 1 bar max and at full throttle it genuinely hits 1 bar on the gauge.
