Default Fundraising help - cycling event

Hi guys,

Not sure if I am allowed to post something like this here, but thought I'd give it a shot.

I am a keen cyclist and have just signed up to participate in a great charity ride for a great cause. To enter I have already paid my registration fee, but a prerequisite is that I raise $1000 which is directly for the charity.
I think I will be able to get my Mum and Dad, as well as maybe my boss and my brother to donate, but I will still be well short.

I was wondering if anyone on here would like to support a great cause for Australian kids and in turn help me qualify for the race?
If so, just follow the link below, it would be greatly appreciated.

https://sna.etapestry.com/fundraiser...59.0.348093229

Any keen cyclists on here should jump on board and enter. It looks like a great event and is for a great cause.

great cause Josh. I'd do it if I were in Vic. I reckon ratter could be interested to do it as well.

Are you TT'ing the event or is this a road event?

Thanks blueoval, it is for a great cause.

The event is actually in QLD for those interested. A mate and I will be making a road trip out of it.

Hopefully some cyclists on here can get inboard and enter the event. All money raised is for a great cause and it will be a challenging event with orica greenedge setting the pace.

A link to the event is below;

Hi Guys,

this event is in less than 2 weeks is anyone else on here doing it?

I am still a couple of hundred dollars short of the donation requirement. Any donation however big or small is much appreciated. Please support a very worthy cause.

Thanks

Wow, thankyou so much DJR-351
I didn't expect such a big donation, thankyou very much. What a top bloke you are!
Your donation has just helped contribute to the following;
· 100 children will be educated by the live Ditto Show to
learn about personal safety
· 40 Crisis calls can be professionally responded to
· 20 children will receive a counselling session
· A SADS (Sexual Assault Disclosure Scheme) participant
discloses to Police resulting in the direct cessation of
offending against another child; or
· any combination of these life changing interventions.

I really don't know what else to say, but your donation has made my day. Made my week actually. Thanks again, I'm very pleased to see there are some generous members here supporting a great cause. This forum is such a great community, I'm proud to be a member.
Have a great day DJR-351

Hi guys,

I'm sure you all heard about the disturbing child pornography ring busted today.
I'd like to raise awareness for the Bravehearts organisation who help prevent abuse from happening and counsel those who have been abused.

I have met my required entrance amount for this charity bike ride thanks to DJR-351 who was very generous.
But I'd like to raise more. You don't necessarily have to sponsor me, you can donate to the organisation directly.
Theres 85,000 members on this forum. Imagine what we could do if every member donated $1 to this worthy cause.
It is tax deductible don't forget.

Thanks for any support

My wife does fun runs with an organisation called Cantoo. They train you etc to enter events like the Sydney Running Festival, Blackmores Running Festival etc in return for a fee which is a donation. To fundraise she has held Bunnings BBQ's which are quite successful in raising several hundred dollars at a time. You might want to look into that as it gets hard hitting up the same people all the time as she has done around 9 of these programs and the minimum is around $850.. for the 9km and something like $2.5k for the marathon.

I know its not much Josh, but every bit helps. All the best again this year and hope you enjoy yourself.

I did my first JDRF (Juvenile diabetes research foundation) charity ride this year (147km) and thoroughly enjoyed it. there is always such a great spirit at these types of events. my daughter is type1 diabetic so it meant quite a bit to me to do it, and am looking forward to it again in jan 2015.

enjoy your day. good to see a positive cycling thread

Thanks MDS69. I might have to think about something like that as it does get hard hitting up the same people.
This ride is a minimum $1000, but I raised over $1300 last year thanks to a couple of very generous ford forum members, and hoping to increase on that this year.

Mate, that's very generous, thanks very much its really appreciated.
Congratulations on your event. Yes, these charity rides do have a great spirit and are very rewarding. I encourage anyone into cycling to give this ride or one in your state a go.
I ride in the around the bay in a day event every year in Victoria too which is for the smith family, but I only ask for fundraising for this ride as it means more to me.

Good luck with your ride in 2015. Be sure to hit me up and I will sponsor you.

Thanks again.
