Default What Would Win?

My mate has just bought an LC torana.4 door with a 202 red motor slightly worked, aussie 4 spd manual, LSD and leather interior for $3000!

My Question is
- Would this Torana beat my XY "250 1v pre crossflow which is slightly worked 'as well', with mild cam, extractors and 2" dual exhausts, 4 spd toploader and LSD"??????

I am hoping that his car will lose but just wont to make sure of it!

Cheers
Tom

Anyone here can say what they want, it makes no difference. The only way to know for sure as you say, is to race him.

202 & 4spd in an 1080kg (from memory) car would chew you up.

Thats exactly what i have been thinking about for the last few months, i'm looking for a 2v head for a reasonable price, not too sure about triple carbys though, they would use to much fuel! :baby bott
And i've already got a mild cam.
Its got slightly bigger pistons (+ 0.030), dont think that would make too much difference though

Yep I agree.

Although, I reckon the Torrie may win.

The LCs-LJs, are pocket rockets.

My mate has a worked LJ 202, that munched a R32 GTST.

It's not really about power, it's about weight. The Torana is a lot lighter than your xy and those red motors aren't too bad. A race is deffinately the only way to know for sure but I'll tell ya the torana will smash ya.

The tornana will beat the falcon off the line, , but the falcon should be able to catch it !

The 202 was not a great bore / stroke to "work" The 179 and 186 was better....

Stick a Holley 500 on em, , bore the crap out of them, , work the head as much as possible, , stick a HUGE cam in it, , and it will run on Methanol !,, , , then you will see some action from a Red motor !

Remeber 202 is the biggest engine that the LC came with, you should have a 351 to to be even, then he'd be :

Your gonna get cained. Red motors can be built damn quick. My bro in law sunk 10 grand into a 202 back in the late 80's earlier 90's in an effort to get 11's out of it. One of his mates had an insane wheel standing four door LC with 202.

I'd be looking at a turbo. Only a month or so ago I was reading in a car mag about a very sedate looking white XP Falcon complete with venetians running a 221ci with blow through turbo setup that does easy 12's.

Don't get me wrong there are some quick Torana's out there, I just can't stand the blasted things. In my opinion (puts flame jacket on) they deserve to be thrown on the same pile as Leyland P76's, Datto 120Y's, any Commonwhore prior to VR and anything Korean. But to each his own I suppose.

I was out tonight and a Torana came next to me at the light, Idle was ruff was shaking his car He gave it a couple of revs and it was wet i was thinking WTF? Does he want to drag or something? In the rain. He took off like he was on ice

My Cousin had a LJ He got plates for it DragLJ. First he had a 202. Slightly worked cam heads done 14's. He then got a 308 got into the 13's. As he was working on his next engine and getting it tubbed he lost interest in it and sold it.

If this race was to be fair the 250 would have to be in a TC cortina. Then there would be a competition to speak of. As it is now, there torana will wipe the floor with the falcon without a doubt.
