Default re-powering a 59 van

I have an escort p/v 1959 and am looking for a hi reving 4 or 6 to mod my van, Any ideas ? the van is the same as the prefect.. like to stick with Ford but might go rb30 + turbo.. Seen any ... Also have to buy a diff ,g/box any one know of a disc front end that will fit or close to it... ? Any help woul b great.... Cheers Darryl :

A 6cyl would have to mean major body chops as the old 4cyl engines were tiny, engine bays are pretty short. I imagine a V6 would challenge for width too. You could look at a TX3 engine, 1.6 dohc 16v, or a zetec/duratec from Mondeo/Focus. Even a Kent crossflow - they use those in Formula Fords after all.

Have a look here - one fitted with early Cortina stuff.
