This is not news.
Ford said they would keep Australia as one of 3 global design hubs and end up with around 1,200 staff based there.
GMH always said one out all out in 2017

Does this mean VF is it? Maybe VF II or VF III but still a VF?

There's nothing new here.......simply typical Holden media making the public think everything is rosy, all untill it catches up and landslides them and they have to respond with comments centered on image damage control.

And I noticed they mentioned most were youyangs employees leaving. Does that mean they are shutting it down despite the big turnaround a few months ago saying they were keeping it for further vehicle homolgolation for local conditions.
You know....all the Chinese cars they'll be importing. I thought they just needed a shed to put the Holden badge on them. Not a race track for front wheel drive econoboxes

Man Holden is confusing.......

You're a classic.

One minute you bang on about the billions Holden waste, now your slamming them for cutting numbers from a department which is winding down due to local manufacturing closure.
What do you want them to do, keep paying them for sitting around doing nothing...lol

You might not realise it but neither Holden, nor Ford will simply close the door one afternoon and that's it, they will slowly cut numbers until only the bloke switching the light off is left.

Please grow up, your rants are pathetic.

I predict Holden will switch to the German Opel range in 2017.
Hopefully they drop the Commodore name completely, it doesn't deserve to be put on a FWD.

VFII out this year in time for the Falcon launch...complete with flappy paddles apparently...

GM Holden will launch an updated MY15 Commodore line-up in Sydney on October 9, ahead of its expected release in November – the same month Ford Australia's final Falcon range goes on sale.

It is also possible that premium sports versions of the MY15 Commodore could become available with the steering wheel paddle shifters and shark-fin antenna already fitted to the Commodore-based Chevrolet SS sports sedan exported to the US.

Man Holden is confusing.......
Quote:
The engineers who will lose their jobs are based at Holden’s test track at Lang Lang on the south-eastern outskirts of Melbourne and at the company’s headquarters in Port Melbourne.

Jobs blow ... Holden is preparing to sack 300 vehicle engineers by the end of this year, three years ahead of the factory closures. Picture of Holden’s test track which is not affected by the sackings. Source: Supplied

The Holden test facility was very nearly sold during the Global Financial Crisis in 2009 — transport magnate and car enthusiast Lindsay Fox had reportedly expressed interest in buying it — but Holden announced earlier this year that it is keeping its proving ground (and a skeleton number of staff) to do local testing of foreign vehicles.
Nope...

Can't find any suggestion of "most were youyangs Lang Lang employees leaving"...

Not sure who is confused...

In the quote you posted they say that the guys loosing there jobs will come from LANG Lang and their headquarters......and Holden after deciding at the last minute to not sell lang lang earlier in the year, also confirmed that it would only support a skeleton staff! FACT!
Confused much....

I think your grossly misunderstanding me here. For starters their flawed buissiness ethics WILL leave them in over half a billion in debt.....despite being such a big seller. 'You do the maths, what's wrong there?'

And secondly I'm not slamming them for having to let people go at all. That's expected. my comments are about holdens advertising, amoung other things that paint the picture of a fully funded/supported Holden 'here to stay' theme. Then if you even read the quoted article........it's full of saving face comments by Holden.

And I'm assuming you think I'm stupid if you think I'd expect what you said to happen.wow
Maybe you could comment on the lang lang situation as you seem to know it all.

So what should Holden advertise? Do you expect a campaign, like "Yeap we are done, stick a fork in it, thats Holden". They are in the business of selling cars, not making you feel better about the mess Ford Australia is in. Both yank companies are in trouble in the Australian market. Neither will ever be as successful in this market as they once were. At the moment its a case of waiting for the closures and seeing who tumbles further. At the moment Ford is winning the sales race to the bottom.

Its a shame you werent as critical of Ford over the years, because if enough so called Ford fans had been, they might have had to be accountable for what they did. Then they might not have been on the nose with the Australian motoring public like they are at this point.

Why would it make a difference? The Falcon hasn't been a serious competitor to the Commodore for years. No rush for Holden.

There are some very talented engineers at Holden's that will find employ at Ford. It should work out well for many workers AND the Aussie auto design sector.

I hold onto hope that one day we'll see a return of an Aussie engineered rear drive mid-sized car for the folk tired of identical transportation appliances.

This is one area of expertise the Aussies have it over most.

Funny how that sort of arrogance sadly won't stop them closing down 12 months later and with more red ink. Selling more has actually lost them more. And it's going to be Ford Aus. which will provide them with the greatest chance of staying in this country/industry.

My point is simply that Holden aren't worried about what Ford are doing with the Falcon... they threw gadgets into the VF because every other market segment had them. Contraction of the segment is a bigger concern for Holden than losing share of that segment.
