Every time there is a FS for particularly a car without pics, the first post is always "got any pics". It is so frustrating to open a thread and lo and behold, no f&%$%n pics.
It should be mandatory for all vehicles in the for Cars for Sale area to be accompanied with pics and if the sellers don't have them when they want to start the thread, they aren't allowed to start it until they do have pics!!! |

: this thread should be in the SITE SUPPORT section, not the FOR SALE section.
but since its in the FOR SALE section: got pics, how much and where are you? : i agree too. |

Some interesting thoughts - and yes this thread will be moved to site support.
I do agree with some points made - it is always good (and common sense) to see a picture of what you are considering/buying. As Tibbo has eluded to, the only person the seller hurts by not including pics is themselves, however, we will not be making pictures a mandatory feature of For Sale threads. Reasons behind this include privacy - if pictures will identify the vehicle/item for sale in such a way it makes it easier to locate by unwanted persons, it's not handy. Furthermore, not everybody has access to a camera, and some sellers would prefer you inspect the item in person anyway. On top of that, some users on dialup etc hate to see pictures as it takes forever to load. Those wishing to see pictures of an item are advised to send the seller a PM or post in the thread - however there is no need for 4 different people to post "got pics?". Once will do. Sellers who wish to upload pics but who are unable to do so or have issues doing can send me a PM. Furthermore, if you want to edit pictures or remove them completely, let me know as it is not always possible to edit the first post in a thread.

Maybe a guide B2F on how to either post a picture as an attachment to the thread or on photobucket and link it back may be of assistance to the newbies!

There is now a guide posted as a sticky in the For Sale Forums and Site Support on how to post pictures.

I will assume that the wise guys are referring to me! good! as a new person I couldn't find how to add pics for my ad, when I did I found that they were too big to upload, But I did explain how by two or three mouse clicks they could see the car on ebay. Seasoned old hands should take some initiative and help the new guys so the forum grows and is a resource for many more. when problems come up they are an excellent tool for assessing how user friendly the site is, and how well we can serve those people! And that's my "Social issue" for the night!

As stated, pics will not be made mandatory. This is fair and its quite simple really - if you want to see pics but dont see them, then dont buy the item or arrange with the seller to view it in person. There are a number of reasons for users declining to post pictures which have been outlined, and these are fair enough.

i rarely get asked for pics, and usually hook the person up with photographics if they really are keen or ask for it.

i have a suggestion. if there are so many people struggling with the site and because some one some were on this site needs help you should set up a help desk type setup, were they type into a box similar to the one im typing in and when they hit send it goes to an email that all the mods and admins have access too, or even like one of the support setups the web hosting companies use.

Pics are important when selling stuff, but not everyone has ready access to the cash it takes to buy said digicam. I only got one just recently. Also you have to have the computer to handle it. And what about those on 56K? Do they really need the stress of wading through a heap of huge pics?

If you are looking at buying the 'item' obviously you would wait for images to d/l wouldn't you? Dial up or not? The mods have made the decision, but imho it is only detremental to the seller to not suply an image of a car for sale..
