Default need more information on a stall converter

does a 2700 stall mean the car wont move until you reach 2700 rpm, is it like dropping the clutch in a manual?

It means that you can "stall" the car on the brakes to around 2700rpm.

With a 2700rpm stall you would hardly notice it at all in day to day driving.

It means the converter doesn't lock up until 2700. Your current converter wouldn't lock up until around 2200 - the converter basically slips until it reaches close to it's rated stall speed, at which point it starts to transfer all power through the transmission. The reason autos are so sluggish off the line in stock trim is because the converter slips the power, plus there is a pretty savage torque reduction strategy built into the ECU.

so basically can take off normally or if doing a standstill burnout or drag taking off it wont start moving till 2700?

Basically yes.
If you take off normally you will start moving pretty much as you do now (it will be a tad sluggish though). Floor it and it will jump straight to 2700rpm and you will be off and running in a big way.

only reason im asking is i may be able to get one in a few weeks off a forum member and just want it to improve acceleration from flat take off never seen one in action though so a bit confused whether its for me what is a standard size in a au forte

I thought the stock converter was 1800 rpm.
I think its best to choose a stall speed suited to the cam (and or other mods), ie. where the torque surge is. I think a stock au motor is best fitted with a 2200 stally? The 2700 will definately be an improvement, but might be a bit too slippery in everday use.
I may very well be wrong though.
