you need broadband and either buy a starter kit from harvey norman/eb games etc or follow the prompts from your xbox menu and pay for the subscription

who do u pay for x box live?
do u just buy from harvey normAN etc. then you get a 1 year license or you have to buy the pack and then pay microsoft for a license aswell? how much is it also? |

Hey, im on xbox live and its pretty easy to set up. It is a xbox 360 your talking about?
Live costs around 80 a year for a gold membership, silver is free. All you need is to run a crossover ethernet cable from the back of your 360 to a modem. It will pretty well sort itself out. I plugged mine into a cable modem and it logged on straight away. You need to make a gamercard for live, its free to do, and pretty easy, its just a little hard getting a gamertag that noone else has :-) You will get a silver membership straight away. You can see who is online, send messages like msn, download mission packs for games, music clips, game demos, game trailers. Lots of stuff is available. You have the option of buying gold in the sign up, a one month membership is 11 dollars i think, just remember its a membership, not a one off, so your credit card will get charged every month. Or you can go into someone like eb and buy a gold pack for around 90 bucks. You get a year membership, 200 microsoft points (to buy stuff online), a headset and the arcade game Bankshot Billiards, so its pretty good value. BTW, you can only play games online with a gold account, but its worth it, ive been playing Perfect Dark with people from germany, france, england, america, new zealand, even ran into some one that lived one suburb away! |

Sorry, forgot to mention, if you buy the xbox live vision camera, you can have video calls with people from around the globe, but you have to have gold again. Games like UNO support the camera as well so you can see and talk to the people you are playing.
