Front Bumper Removal

Guys and Girls, i have a problem.

I damaged my front bar (about two months ago : ) so im going to use the LOONG weekend to pull it off and get it back into shape.

What's required to get it off? How many bolts? and where? Do i have to be careful around the cornering lamps?

Car is a DF ltd. Which i think is the same as the EF/L Fairmont bars

theres like 2 nuts ethir side from the front, just get under the car (say about where the headlights are) and should see a flat plate of metal with with nuts screwed onto the bolt of the bar, just screw em off, and comes off easy enought, theres clips on ethir side of the car, make sure when puttin it back on you have it in the clips

i dont think you have to take anything else off, besides dissconnect fogges and horn

nothing a hammer and a solid surface cant fix

its actually a little more involved then an EA-ED bumper.
wheel arch linings must be removed.
turning lamps disconnected
support bar undone from chassis rails.
top plastic cover removed from between headlights.
horn unplugged.
bolts removed from under the indicators (remove indicators for easier access)
screws removed from very end of the front bar (where guard meets bar)
under tray removed

i think thats all...

the undertray is a lil bent up...



Looking at that, its not going to be as easy as "smash it with a hammer on the concrete"..

ps. if the applause for the paintshop work could be held until the end of the thread, it would be greatly appreciated. I know its fantastic

is the bar itself damaged or is that metal bracket simply pulling the bar to sit wrong
you could always cut the metal bracket off and see how it sits.

the bar is actually bent in, next to the cornering lamp. I'll show you on Saturday night. Ive gotta go to the wreckers tomorrow morning, so ill see what they'll charge me for another one. It doesnt look like its too hard to remove.

By the look of it though, the bracket IS pulling it too, which is why ive got a gap underneath my headlight a little bit.

try removing the under tray
that will free up the steel bracket
let the bumper come forward, if u can get your hand behind the bumper.
get some hot water and pour it on the pushed in section.
you may be able to push out the damage.
hard to say without looking at it but its worth a try.
and since its damaged you can't make it any worse
