Default EB2 Auto has died

Hey guys.

New member here, so hi to all...

Well, my EB2 has suffered a major, the auto has decided to die after 218,000 k's. 2nd & 4th have moved on too brighter pastures & its chugging along in 1st & then 3rd....

Got a quote from a local transmission place & after i picked myself up off the floor, ИИИ $1900 for a reco unit is way to much. :

The car is in good nic & has not really given me much problems until lately. The steering rack died about 12 months ago & i got that fixed......& now im in the market for a replacement box. I only use the car to drive to work, so i dont really want to spend the big $$$ on a new car......(building a house that is costing me a fortune). The car has got Koni suspension, 16' wheels & generally drives very well..... :eclipsee_

I am leaning down the path of a second hand unit, but i am not sure where to start. Do the auto's from say ED to EL fit? Also, where is a good place to source a second hand unit?

Cheers

Hawk

Around $2000 is normal for a FULL rebuild if a BTR 4 speed, and around $200 is a price to buy one from a wrecker and fit it yourself.

Try the for sale section on here, and buy from a fellow AFF member, but the usual buyer beware should be kept in mind.

Ferntree Gully Auto Salvage are a good choice, as they are a site sponsor. You can also try Jolly Rogers at Dandenong or Centre Road Self Serve (near Clayton)

Yea an ED Box will fit straight in there mate. If you can find a 2nd hand box it'll be cheaper than getting yours reco'd and much easier than doing a manual conversion.

i'm pretty sure John (EFFalcon) on these forums is selling a very good condition Auto. Deffiantely a much cheaper option then going for a full reco.
