Well today was a Show n Shine for the hard working people at Ford in Geelong.
Some awesome cars were on display, ranging from a GT40 to the usual XB Coupe. Although down at the back was this beast! Its now owned by an employee, and his pretty sure he might be selling, so if you are seriously interested PM me and I can get some more details. Obviously no tyre kickers though..LOL :eclipsee_ Unfortunately I didn't hang around to hear it, that would have made a good vid. Details here: :sm_drool:

HAHA.
Ive have heaps, but I might wait as others mightn't care about the rest. Also I should probably kill the number plates as those people dont know I am posting them. But the guy with the EL V8SC does as I told him I would take some pics for the club, thats why the bonnet is/was up, I asked him to put it down. He was happy to.

OK well here we go, non Fords
This thing is nuts, mid mounted VL engine, it said V8 but im pretty sure it was the Skyline engine. Love these little beemers, I guess they are like escorts in a way.

There were a couple of Holdens, this one was the best, and if I was ever to stray its probably the one model I would ever consider. Such an awesome shape!

Ok last two, these were my favourites there. One day I aspire to own a GT40 replica (although I'd settle for a Cobra I guess..LOL), this one was just awesome!
And this was the coupe I was talking about earlier, so tough! Does 10.8! If I owned that I woudl get BADASS plates..LOL

FWOAR, Giocattolo! Love to have one of those, there's only about 10 left now I would think? Screw the RB off though, you'd have do it the Todd Wilkes way! And the GT40... hubba hubba!!!

for those that dont know, the giocattolo's were an alfa coupe, with a mid mounted holden V8..... there's stuff all of them left Todd Wilkes had one, and put the reccord breaking 1000hp twin turbo holden V8 from his VS ute into it... tragically, he (and the gio) met their demise at eastern creak, hitting a wall airborn at full speed, and bursting into flames...... |

I think you will find quite a few "early" V8 supercars were upgrades from EB. These things cost a packet to build in the early 90s, the country was in recession, and there was very little sponsor interest in the series (compared to todays extravaganza).
There was a story in AMC mag about the first V8 "supercar" by DJR, on what they thought would be the regulations. The car they built was far from what the regs eventually turned out to be, and extremely expensive, (reputed to be the most expensive V8 SC built, $600,000 from memory), so unable to race it, they constantly updated the body work and it was the "show car" parked next to the transporter/ merchandise tent at touring car rounds. As for the Giocattolo, see here: http://www.giocattolo.com.au/history.htm |
