http://cgi.ebay.com.au/UNLOCK-your-d...ayphotohosting

its a book explaining how to turn your AU dash into a full digital speedo/tacho etc.
true or complete rubish, just curious ?

I know a lot of these things can be done of EF/EL dashes...but all the info is available onf fordmods.com

I'm guessing the same can be done with AU/B series...but I wouldn't go paying for it...

part from the diagnsotics mentioned on the eBay listing...all it does is display your speed / revs on the digital odo...

EDIT: heres a link to how to enable a lot of the diagnostics mentioned on eBay for the AU:

http://www.fordmods.com/forums/documents.php?doc=34

Yeah, it's a handy little thing. Only problem is you can't swap between it and the normal dash display (odometer and DTE) without having to do the routine again.

i've done it a coupla times and its fairly handy. gives you trip computer functionality on a forte too (L/100km instant and average). i only used it on a highway trip to see what the consumption was doing... was interesting but haven't bothered since

Make sure it is in ignition, not just accessories

I had mine on accessories the first 5 or 6 times, then flicked it over one more for ignition, then i got it on the first go :

Yeh I had it on ingition, should it cycle between odo and trip when you press the button, or should it just stay on what ever it was displaying before you started pressing?

Yep works for me!
Do you think that using the diagnostic mode is how you can change the cars Km's? I was thinking about getting an xr cluster and this would be good as I could put its km's down to what my car has.

Maybe we should all sell our cars on ebay and call them Falcon LM models, lol

DIGITAL speedo!! lol...

I remember on my dads old fairmont ghia (may have been an XF or sumn), it had a digital speedo and was very bright green or blue i think.. (This was 20+ years ago) I always wondered why they got rid of them, cuz i thought they were cool, lol

I can't get mine to work, which is strange because I've had it in diag mode before. I'm doing it right and I'm using a stop watch for the timing, as I did last time, but the stupid thing won't work! Arrgghhh!!

I never cared about putting it back into diag mode until this thread popped up. Now it's annoying me that I can't get back into it lol.

ok i think its time to explain it step by step lol

1st. keys in the ignition, turn once then turn one again, so you are 1 turn from kicking the car over. AS SOON as it goes onto ignition start step 2 straight away, must not be any delay

2nd. Using the Odometer Button, Press the Odometer Button Down, then release 5 Times within 10 Seconds - note must be VERY accurate ie
1 push -------- 2 release ------- 3 push ------ 4 release etc

3rd. after the last time that you release which should be the 5th time within the 10 seconds time frame leave it released for 5 seconds

4th. after the 5 seconds push the odo button in for 7 seconds then release for a further 5

5th. then finally push back in for another 7 second and the digital part of your dash should go completely blank, then press the odo button again to cycle through the functions.

P.S if i am wrong with any of this please inform me and ill edit it
Cheers. Rodney

P.S.S hope this helps everyone who is having troubles .

P.S.S.S lol - http://www.fordmods.com/forums/documents.php?doc=34
thats the link to show you the functions that are known.

Tried it on my TE50, it worked. But took a couple of tries.

The EF/EL instructions are here:
http://www.fordmods.com/forums/documents.php?doc=12
I have tried it successfully from GLi, Fairmont Ghia to DF LTD.

I finally got it to work on mine, you have to be very very precise with the 5 up/downs, in fact i was doing it much too slowly, when you count it out with your watch you have to go up/down very quickly within 10 seconds and then do the remainder of the steps.
