So we have a most beautiful thread running at the moment, why not the other end of the scale.
There are plenty of obvious ones, and I'm sure they will be mention, but one to start the ball rolling for me is the Chrysler Crossfire, quite rightly termed the Misfire. And no, the convertible was no better. I remember back in the day Paul Cockburn (An industrial designer) from Motor Magazine described the Crossfire as "several different styling statements vying for the viewers attention, almost like there was a designer for every panel of the car", or words to that effect. It was also famously compared to a dog taking a dump by Jeremy Clarkson.

May I also present from the same era, the thoroughly terrible and badly proportioned Chrysler Sebring.
Even offered in a ghastly convertible. Chrysler offered a soft-top or hard-top versions of the convertible, both were hateful.

The last Argentinian Falcons. Tacky facelift/restyle; the Donatella Versace XK.
Citroën C3 Pluriel, an unattractive car you couldn’t engage with from the driver’s seat and lived in fear of the roof failing part-way. The Bufori, just yech. ‘80s excess and shallowness. |

Every time I've seen a Citroen DS on the road, I've always thought, "what were the the designers smoking?"

Is it the AU style roof line and forte grille? Or use of a sovereign badge?
What about headlights that look like they took inspiration from a spider? Looks like an AU and BA hybrid fairlane hit with an extra few swipes of the ugly stick |

Cor blimey, it looks like a spaceship. That's really cool and I want one now.
That colour, those hub caps, that little angled up and back rear window as was popular at the time, hatchback style tail, that extra added parcel shelf glass at the back... Even those tail lights with each panel angled out in a saw tooth pattern Absolute perfection. Seriously, it was a very brave car, not as popular as the earlier dattos and I'd prefer the earlier ones of course - or it's contemporary 240, 180 etc. But can't slam datsun for that very unique design. I laughed at them 30 years ago, but 50 yrs later I admire their guts and salute the 120y |

Some donger called it 'overstyled', can you believe that? Of course nissan got butthurt and followed it with the sunny, which was criticised as old fashioned and a boring in house nissan design. No wonder nissan are schizophrenic and go from skyline to juke these days. Poor people working for them are over sensitive and blown to extremes with critiques. With the 120y South africa hotted them up with a 1.6L engine, bigger cam, twin side draft dellorto 40mm carbs for 95hp and called it the 160Z according to wiki. They did mods to BMWs, gm and fords in the past too. We always seem boring for imports. Fury probably did something with a sunny though. E: that was the stanza, the 180b replacement between the sunny(120) and bluebird (200) Last edited by oldel; 03-09-2021 at 01:01 AM. |

Have to agree, this abomination is right up with the best of them in the fugly department, should i have the misfortune to actually see one I shall stand there pointing and laughing at the thing while mocking the owner mercilessly.....

I think the cybertruck thing is just click bait, but I actually like most of them that have been posted!
Nissan Juke - not that bad Citroen DS - seriously, is timeless and iconic! Crossfire - sure its different but its not terrible Cherish the companies that are brave enough to push the boundaries...IMO this is what makes motoring interesting you cant see or touch HP.

I think my dislike of these harks back to being unable to convince a work colleague that his diarrhea green/yellow coloured 120Y Coupé was, with it's puny engine, 4 wheel drum brakes and in his case, further performance strangling 3 speed auto transmission, was not a sports car despite it being a Coupé and having a factory fitted tacho and his added huge ugly rear wing (that probably further slowed it down). I do have to admit though that they were both extremely fuel frugal and reliable (so unfortunately they well and truly outlasted their welcome on our roads and were around to mar our landscape much longer than they should have been).

I actually don't mind the Juke!
Anything with a SsangYong badge on it is horrible though.
