Got a new car 2012 Ford Falcon XT Ecolpi

So I was at the auctions looking at a few 2012-2013 G6 and G6E petrols with 40,000km - 65,000km with around $15k to spend. Seemed like most were unregistered but selling between $15k-$17k. Still not bad for the money.

Ended up with a high KM 2012 Falcon mk2 XT Ecolpi. By high I mean 208,000km. But it was an ex council car so always serviced on time with books stamped. Went from 168,000km Bf to more km in a fg mk2. Nice gadgets inside for a base model. Happy Bluetooth streams and takes calls. Damn the car has some punch.

Looking to service my steel pan transmission 6HP26 once I sell my BF. Going a transmission kit with gasket and filter and most likely the Nulon Syth ATF.
Just looking to DIY. Drop oil, filter and gasket. No full flush. No tools or knowledge. Read up on the procedure from this great forum.

I called motorworks today an OE gasket is $50 and a filter is $100 plus gst. Add lifeguard 6 at $40 per litre @ 6 it's a bit of dough.
Anyone used the ryco transmission kit? It's $53.

Hope the car lasts a while! Km's got me worried but the price was good.

Honestly it boots hard. 198kw and the torque is what tops makes it @ 409nm.
I don't know what engine life will be like but it's a Barra. My BF egas has been faultless, the converter was changed but they are prone to failure. EcoLPI seems to be a lot better. It automatically primes the lpg when I unlock the door with remote. So no delay just start. Brilliant. Old bf has to turn and wait a bit before cranking.

Good stuff on the buy mate.

I'd be very wary of servicing a ZF myself though, especially with no tools or knowledge.

I've got the tools for the service . I've done a few transmissions before just not a zf. Don't have the tools for a full flush. Found the procedure on here. The guys on here are using full synthetic nulon.

Servicing the ZF can be like a bad girlfriend - you'd swear you did everything right but it starts complaining 5 minutes later. Beware of doing it yourself but it can be done. Don't ask me how though.

Here she is.

As stated I was looking at 2012 G6's with the larger Icc colour screen like my wife's titanium. But the base xt monochrome does the job. Links to Bluetooth and music streaming with Spotify. Plus I've got a GPS with map updates anyway. Rego expires next month. Few bonnet chips from highway km.
The, 2012 g6 with 32000km went for $16600 which is good as well. Bit out of my range.
Paid $9688 with auction fees.
But needs rego next month and rwc certificate.

Will need a new front windscreen as she has done highway km.

Given the high KM, it seems a bit high in price.

Pickles have this one with 131,000km for $9990 its a 2013.

I picked up mine with under 100,000km back in March for 10k. Has the prestige sound with colour screen like the G6.

It is an ecoboost. Bought privately, talked him down from $14500. Others at action with similar km go for 14k approx.

I replaced the wheels and tail lights with a set I got from ebay...

Theyre good cars, my missus drives a 2012 G6 ecoboost and its a fantastic car. Cheap to run with enough go for daily driving. 65000km so far with no issues.

You're comparing a petrol 6 and an EB4 to the EcoLpi that he bought.

In my opinion the EcoLpi is a better engine choice than both.

Maybe, Maybe not. I bought it for an economical highway cruiser.. Got close to 900km on the highway this week.

I also bought a mk2 FG last month to replace my AU wagon. The Barra really is the best 6 cylinder engine I've experienced - makes it hard to obey the speed limit. I wish I didn't have to admit this but I actually prefer driving it over my turbo charged EL, with the ZF it is really spot on.

Have fun with the new car. Looks like a good one.

100%, few ecoboosts were selling for $8-$9k with Low km's - 60,000km or less. It's a good engine but I wouldn't haven't in my falcon. Maybe in the focus ST. Ecoboost is all good until you need parts or repair. Resale is already poor, imagine in a further 4 years.

I didn't want the fuel bill of a petrol 6 either

Cheers. Yes the ZF is a ripper. It is geared very different to our Territory diesel with the ZF 6R80. I put the transmission in perf mode today. Wow does she rev! Was changing at 4200rpm onto the freeway with some boot.

Im hoping the value of the Sprints dont drop like a stone ie, like the figures quoted here. LPI is a great engine, and Aussie developed. Should have sold like crazy in my opinion

Feels a bit quicker than my FG NA auto ute. The "Track Apps" on the Mustang can count all sorts of driving tests, 0-100km/h the best I have recorded so far with all the Nannies on (not in sports mode) is 6.5 seconds. Mine is an auto.
My son has an EcoBoost Falcon, it lags a bit at the initial start of acceleration compared to my ute, but just as quick after that, my EcoBoost Mustang does not seem to have this issue that I can notice, My EB Mustang feels quicker than My ute & EB Falcon up to the legal speed limit.
Me being 168cm tall, my wife and daughters shorter, we have no issue with rear seat room, my son is a bit taller, not so good for him.
There is lots of features on this car, too numerous to type, I have been learning new features every day.
So far driving around town and highway, average 9.0 l/100kms. best on the highway so far was 7.4 l/100kms.
All up to personal choice whether an individual buys the v8 or the EB, I have my personal reasons and I am very happy with my choice. So that is the best description I can give at the moment, I might go for anther cruise soon and break more peoples necks

, Shouldn't be too long before dealers have EcoBoost demos for every one to try out, then you can all have a better personal experience of what these cars are like.

Edit; if you are asking me to compare it to a V8, I cannot answer that one, I have never owned a V8, maybe a bucket list item to tick down the track

Sorry to the OP. His car looks great. But ECO lpi or not. THis one has a lot less km, and is a year newer.

I was looking at the Auctions since november last year. Prices vary from day to day. Just saying there are much better deals at pickles right now.

ECO LPI's with 100k go for around $12,000. $9k for one with 200+k on it seems high.

Even on car sales, by the time you negotiate, better deals can be had.

EcoLpi was a requirement. That car is not.

Edit: Not to mention higher kilometers, 3 years older and a different state to the OP. So OP would have to factor in transportation or fuel costs and airfares etc to get the car home.

Just a couple of things with this one, is it actually the drive away price? It doesn't mention drive away and even if it is its still 10% more.

It has partial service history and No spare key.

And I'm not sure if I'm reading it right but it mentions it needs a few repairs in the report, and if I am reading correct, around $1000+ worth of repairs.

Also the dash is showing a warning lamp.
