Not sure why you guys aren't doing this yet (every other Vbulletin based forum I frequent does it, very handy).
Replacing the IMG tag with a URL tag still gives users the option to view the image, but it doesn't continue to clutter the pages with embedded photos every time the post is quoted. Just a suggestion - cheers guys, Josh

SO you can code it so when people quote it will only to URL and not IMG?
Or will it convert the OP's IMG to URL automatically? Killing IMG's in quotes would be gold...pet hate. |

Actually what would be better is a system, somehow, where any quoted pics get shrunk to thumbnail size..dont know how feasible that would be though

When you quote a post with picture in it now, it looks like [IMG]mycutelittlekittenblowingbubbles.jpb[/IMG] The other vbulletin forum I frequent is huge (OCAU) when you quote a post with images it swaps the IMG tag for a URL tag. It's fantastic. Quote:

Having a link pop up in quotes to replace all of the pics would be perfect...
Would be of use as of late too since many new/current users are quoting quite large quotes with 25trillion pics in it.... I prefer to keep some download data available, instead of everything being downloaded three or four times...

I actually like seeing the full image load up. If it was just the URL I don't think I would bother clicking on it half the time to be honest. Reducing them to attachment thumbnails can currently be done if you upload them to AFF directly.
Having said that, having them somehow convert from IMG codes to thumbnails automatically, would be great! Also, the mods do keep an eye on people quoting pics in a reply and will remove the quoted pic if they see them. Cheers Col

you would only need to click it if it was in a quote, the original post would be left as is. attachments don't get quoted at all, which can be annoying if you're trying to work out what the 'quoter' was talking about, a link makes that easy. attachments also have limits, to which you end up with people deleting their old attachments, which then ruins old threads/posts. Less work for the mods to do, better for the end user. its win win

It should only work when a post is quoted as per my example above.

I have a question re: IMG codes.
Does this work on the file name? ie: I posted a photo in a thread and then went to post the same photo in another thread and it posted as image So if I want it to open as the image in a post, do I then have to reload it with a different name? People can just click on the link I know, just curious how it works Cheers Col

The forum I frequent that uses the feature you now have is 3.8.4 Current version is 4.0 So might be a standard feature in more up to date releases? Anyway, cheers for making those changes. Should be good
