This exact same scenario is playing out on the FB swap n sell of a small town I live near. Someone parked their car then two days in a row it was keyed. Dash cam caught very clear video of them. They've been given a chance to come clean before they're publicly shamed and footage handed over to the police. Once public it will take about 10 seconds to find out who it is.

I have been thinking about the same thing. I believe Phillips ADR900 $180 is a good model with a 'carpark' mode where any movement within a range is recorded (according to reviews) Considering the cost of repairs, it seems like cheap insurance if successful charging those responsible.

Can't say, I have been thinking along the same lines lately though. I have two really nice cars and even out here where you think everyone knows everyone there are still jealous pricks that do stuff like this.

I would gather not a jealous thing but because car parked on driveway but not on pathway and taking away the view of the overall street perhaps

As a car enthusiast I think she deserves some extreme punishment, but instead she will get free legal aid, claim it was an act of rebellion, it is the drivers fault for flaunting his wealth, the left leaning socialist judge will record no conviction and hand her a suspended sentence, she will claim she is broke and insurance will pick up the repair bill, Joe public will pick up the court costs and finally the owner will pay his excess!

Silly person. Everyone knows these days that to act all vigilante like on the ignorant parkers you cover your face!
If the car was illegally parked and makes it difficult or sometimes impossible for wheechair users, prams and toddlers to use the footpath kick its ****ing doors in, puncture its tyres and **** on it. Happens way to much round here! And yes there are plenty of prams, chaos and young children in the area walking along the roadways as the footpaths are blocked by these clowns! JP |

I have been thinking about this one for a while and remembering similar events I have heard & seen over the years. We all know the classic Australian caravan park during holiday time, cars & vans on every square of grass, often along beach roadsides. A place in Victoria called Rosebud, has a bunch of this exact set up, or it use to. This was a long time ago. Anyway, New Years eve, one or two kids snuck around loosening off as many sump bolts on unsuspecting holidayers cars as they dare. The next morning, by memory, at least 6 cars destroyed motors before the word spread & the lucky ones checked their oil level before turning the key.

It happened in Dover Heights - which is one of Sydney's most wealthiest suburbs. I doubt that the offender is likely to get away by crying poor... It's also a ***** of a place to find a parking spot - very narrow streets & steeply sloping blocks which means a lot of house owners can't park off street.

Makes you wonder how many other cars she was keying down the street.
Could she be one of these people who gets the irks on when people park in front of their driveways and have the nose right next to the footpath? If so, coppers should be canvassing all neighbors along her route to see how may other victims there are.....truly despicable acts. |

You watch, her lawyer will paint her as a broken toy / damaged goods
because someone looked at her one day and she got scared. In the end the aggreived owner and his insurance will be left holding the bag and old mates no claim bonus will be gonner than Christmas dinner... |

I’m fairly certain that based on his location and vehicle type that the repair costs won’t break or bother him too much. It’s the inconvenience and disrespect that he’d dislike.
Likely the fact that she is exposed and gone viral is enough satisfaction, regardless of losing no claim bonus. |

"No apparent reason"
Hard to tell from the dashcam's distorted lense/image, but he may be blocking the footpath, forcing her to squeeze between the nose of the car & those gates (meanwhile the actual footpath/crossover is probably under the front wheels or middle of the car). I don't condone keying it, but it makes you wonder if she'd seen the owner at the car previously & requested he not park like that, and he ignored it? Council rangers in our area will issue fines if you park across the crossover, where there is a concrete footpath. One of my neighbours got it when he stopped there to open his garage door. He took it to court & they overturned it, but perhaps there are other ways she could have dealt with it - like reporting them to council & letting the ranger issue the fine. I did just that around Christmas time to a moron who kept parking partially across the driveway at my rental I was working on between tenants. My council even has a webpage that's mobile-centric - allowing you to take a photo & upload it with the details of the complaint. Within 24 hours he was getting a ticket. There was no excuse except laziness - he had a 2 car garage, and large driveway, but I think he couldn't reverse well, as both sides had scrapes from the brick fence posts (mind you, they're 4m apart!) A few weeks later Karma got him again - a drunk driver in a tradie ute with a bullbar hit it up the backside - moved it a whole car length, and did a runner. Let the authorities sort him out & sit back with popcorn. It's much more satisfying. |

I picked up from the article that he works hard to get ahead. I'm fairly certain he won't want to be out of pocket, and nor should he I hate vandalism.

Maybe he is one of those numerous Audi drivers who tailgate with their aggressively-shaped daytime running lamps chasing you down in the mirror and he annoyed her.

We have a serial “keyer” in our street, been going on for 15 yrs.
A few newer owners got jack of it and installed security cameras on the front of their houses, she was finally caught and taken to court. Section 26 or whatever, mental health issues, she is somewhat crazy, we all know her and have done her favours over the years, I had a suspicion it was her, people were blaming kids, junkies etc but or had been going on for too long for them to be considered. She had to pay the repair bill, owners excess and do counseling, if she doesn’t complete the counseling sessions she has to go back to court. Probably around 15 other vehicles in the street damaged over the years, no evidence though so cops say bad luck. No more damage since court, funny that, well not in our street anyway. She has a daughter, also crazy, giving some people in the street a hard time, we report all incidents to the cops, some of us are on first name basis now.

So far no more cars keyed in the street so I stand corrected.
I did fail to mention someone’s glass tabletop inside thier house was scratched in the same manner since the court case. House owned by a couple where one is very ill, they have enough on thier minds so didn’t go to the police. Someone who found out about it did let the police know Aforementioned crazy lady is also known for entering others property, among other things.
