Default quarter mile time

i have an eb with an elxr8 series 2 engine, 4.11:1 locked diff and shiftkit, everthing else is stock and i run 15.1 secs all night. Is that normal?
I know thats very good for a stock v8.

sounds roughly right to me, potential to run quicker IMO.
can't be too easy to get off the line with 4.11's?

His setup sounds similar to what mine was, sans hi-stall, when I netted 14.78 @ Heathcote. I'm very interested in my own results next week (now that I've reverted to std stall) at Heathcote to compare to the 14.78, and to qikaz's 15.1 now

What exhaust system have you got for it mate? And what mph were you doing across the finish line?

My 6 cylinder on L.P.G. does that

and its cheaper to run

Still not a bad time ... but if I had a V8 ... I would want to be in the 14s at least with out trying

:evilsasmo 4.11:1 basically run by most competition drag racers they are designed for launch but have a tendancy to run out of legs at the top end in normal situations so you can actually probably stall to the max of the converter and have good leave abilities depending on tyre pressures, compound , track conditioning and a heap of other variables. But keep at it i am sure there is better in there somewhere....After all practice mekes perfect!!!!!!!! :

Lol... whatever buddy.

Sounds right to me. Diff and shift kit have made very noticeable differences in cars I've been in with these modifications, so I can't see why this time wouldn't be normal.

I've seen plenty of cars still manage to light up the tires with stock stalls.
4.11's will deffinately inspire wheel spin

Yeh spot on and the fact its a 185kw motor in a light EB, sounds as though even a high 14 could be acheivable with practice

Both myself and Kenaz have netted high 14s (I mentioned mine in my previous post), !gn!t!ion got a low-mid 14 in an auto EL Ghia with E7 heads, and I remember reading about someone with a HO manifold who managed a mid 14 in an EB XR8 (driveline unknown)

Depending on whether I can make it to Heathcote next week I will race the EL.

I want to see what it runs. If it does a 15.5-16 I will be stoked.

Its quite possible you can run that, you do have 3.45's so its an advantage over other cars without it . There were figures on a website somewhere that the fastest time a stock eb xr8 auto (when new) got, was in between the 15.6-15.8 range. So make sure you have quarter to one third of premium, take as much weight out as possible and floor the crap out of it!!.

Also, i dont know if this is true but a guy once mentioned to me, that becuase stock cars dont often get traction off the line, its best to find the highest tyre pressure point before your car start to suffer on traction issue's. The reason why is, when your running down the quarter mile, the higher your tyre pressure is the less friction you have on the track. Thus making you pick up maybe a couple tenghts of a second (if your lucky)........... im not entirely sure if this is true though.

In regards to qikaz's time, yer i say it seems normal. And i bet ghia5l will do a pb soon next time you take it down to the track!!. Once i get my heads on, im aiming for a high 14's, eventhough i have a single spinner diff and the HO manifold still. Should be interesting though!

yeah but if i put the ammount of money into my engine as you did i'd munch your car.

I dont know where youd find a stock 1998 v8 running close to 14's enywhere. Am i correct???

I also had two 12 inch subs, road tyre 16'' stockies and standard fuel.
Then two months later notiiced crank damper was spun causing incorrect timing, replaced with herrod damper, set timing and now feels alot quicker than ever. But havent run it scince.
i have gt40's, large grind cam, au3 intake, injectors and ecu edit to go in, but i wanna run it before i do all this to see what my pb was with stock engine.

It honestly feels like it will run high 14's at the moment, am scared to see how qik it will go after top end rebuild!!??!!

15.1 with a 3.27 diff and auto? It's possible I suppose...

*EDIT* I noticed in your other thread that you still have a HO intake. If you've got an EL2XR8 motor, why on earth did you put a HO back on?

Sunny it will be good if you bring your EL, ive done the exhaust and cam (although IMO the cam has made maybe a pooftenth amount of difference). Will be interesting to see how we go, ill be happy with a 15.5 aswell.
