i have a 1993 ford telstar tx5 ghia, It has the 2.5 v6 in it its 3 speed auto
and everytime like you come up to a red light to fast and you hit the brake, It stalls it will just cut out accessorie lights will come on you will have to put it in park or neutral and restart, what could be causing this problem the engine has good power does'nt lack transmission isnt sluggish or anything its all good but if you hit the brake to hard it will stall. |

Sounds like a vacuum issue perhaps? Maybe a brake booster leak?
Tried a heavy stop without using the foot brake? Use the trans to engine brake and also use the handbrake PS Its actually a four speed auto

You could also try heavy foot braking in [N] with you holding the revs at 1000rpm, I doubt it would stall as the throttle will be open allowing air in.
How does it idle normally? Could also be an Idle Speed controller issue I guess.

Your problem could be caused by a couple of things.
1...Base idle speed adjusted too low. 2...Throttle position sensor incorrectly adjusted or worn. 3...Idle step motor sticky or worn. Check owners manual for recomended idle speed. The others need to be checked by a Mechanic. One last thing.....Make certain the motor is not over filled with oil. Overfilled on heavy braking would cause oil surge and stalling. Hope this is a help......... |
