Default Newcastle Brown Ale

Had this brew for the first time last night and really enjoyed it, problem is i havent noticed around too many venues in the Melbourne area. just wondering is any of the guys/gals on here know of places that sell it. doesn't have to neccesarily be on tap.

I quite like this brew as well, got plenty of flavour. We stock it at my work, which is Ritchies in Aspendale Gardens. I'll get some prices for you tomorrow if you like.

Try Dan or Phillip Murphys they normally stock it....its normally refered to as Newky Brown...and its a great drop..been drinking it for a while. I know the Dan Murphy's in Eltham stock it...if you like that then also get onto the Old Speckled Hen its a great drop as well..

actually new castle brown ale is referred to mostly in the UK as the brown dog.
Its not a bad drop, and a slab of it sells for a similar amount as a case of corona or similar imported beers.

If you do homebrew at all you can fabricate a worthwhile clone with coopers nutbrown ale extract, some dextrose and a few hop additions.

If you are interested in imported heavy beers, try a youngs double chocolate stout one day, not a bad drop but very heavy.

Drinking some home brew as I type! This beer I've heard is great, and does come in a kit, might have source the ingredients and give it a try.

As others have said some of the Dan Murphy's would probably sell it, otherwise on tap you could give the Great Britain Pub a try in Richmond....bit of a hippy dive of a joint but they stock a shyteload of different beers, mostly pommy ones but locals too

Yeh I checked at my work, it's pretty expensive there. $18.99 for a 6 pack and $67.00 for a slab, which is bloody heaps IMHO. When it's on special I think it's around $15.99 for a 6 pack.
