What a great idea, that will surely bring the road toll down. Try again you useless idiots. Some hoons would wear them as a badge of honour. If you are serious about reducing the road toll, how about actually teaching people how to drive properly. Simple. Ohh, thats right, it will cost the government money instead of revenue raising, how silly of me.

Some people dont even display their P plates so what makes them think they will display "hoon" plates. Personally I dont see the point in having any plates other than L plates.

All they do is single out a group of motorists which consists of both "hoons" and law abiding people. I mean what is the difference between a P plater speeding than a fully licenced person speeding other than 8 extra points to play with.

Breaking the law is breaking the law no matter what licence you hold so why have P plates? What is the actual reason for having them except for the fact that a car with mags, and exhaust with a P Plate on it being labelled a hoon?

[QUOTE=Bossxr8]Some hoons would wear them as a badge of honour.QUOTE]

My exact words when my 21 year old son (who doesn't drive) said nobody would want them on their car.

Mind you, what is the actual title of the offence which gains the distinction of "H" plates? If it's an existing law I would be interested as to whether, or not, these plates are likely to appear on vehicles driven by 65/70 year old useless old ladies who can't see over the dash.

Probationary drivers (similar to NZ restricted licence) wear a P plate which is a White P on a red background.

H plates i guess are for people who get caught hooning. Perhaps the H really stands for 'Holden Driver'?

What is the point of a Hoon plate anyway?

So it can warn other drivers that the guy driving infront of them in the old rusty VL with chasers is a hoon?

Knowing some of the dumbsh*ts out there they would probably think its a privelige by having a "Hoon" plate on their car so they think its alright to "Hoon" around more then they used to.

sounds like a revenue raising device for the RTA/Dept of Transport etc..

imagine if a cop sees a car with Hoon plates (whatever they maybe) - do you think that guy will be getting pulled over for one of the police "random" vehicle inspections that happens all too unrandomly???? slap a yellow sticker on it, a fine for something contrived as per usual and suddenly theres at least a hundy or two more in the govt coffers ...

So they're just making up letters to put on plates now? I want to start giving out "Y" plates then.

As an older member i thought at the age of early 20 s i was bullet proof as a driver as years go on the more you drive the better you get. I know race cars and am still learning things although i go pretty good now i takes time to learn, now it amuses me at young folk at their attitudes but all i can say is swollow humble pride and take note the road is dangerous place and the more experience you can get the better.i have been there and done that as some was pretty stupid but 1 unessesary funeral is 1 to many .You may listen ,you may not but thats up to yourself but 1 thing .concerntration Thats all from me

I can see this as a good thing, in the sense that other people will move out of your way in traffic, and how are they going to know who is a hoon as they have to catch you first doing some thing stupid in the first place?
Last month I took off hard at a pedestrian crossing and spun the wheels going over the painted yellow lines, caused a small amount of smoke and now I'm going to court on 4 charges,
1, driving a vehicle in a manner that was dangerous to the public,
2, careless driving
3, failing to have proper control of a vehicle,
4, did make unnecessary smoke.
When they pulled me over all he wanted to know was "how in hell did you (me) get a car like that?" and did I have a CAMS licence

Hey, this isn’t such a bad idea if you really think about it.
If they’re going to have hoon plates they may as well have plates for all sorts of drivers, so us normal people can identify them with less risk.
Lets say we start a list:

Plate...................Car type.......................Warning

1)Imbecile............Camry drivers............... Total knob head
2)Indecisive..........Any......................... ...Changes lanes without thought
3)Inept................Any(Camry)................. .Just plain stupid
4)Clumsy..............Any(Camry).................. Kills motorcyclists
5)Yobbo...............Holden - Ford................Likes beer - Cricket
6)Horny................Any........................ .....Looking for scrubbers
7)Broke................Any........................ .....Looking for cheap scrubbers
8)Divorced............Any......................... ....Looking for cheap lawyer
9)Drunk................Any........................ .....Looking for more beer
10)Stoned............Any.......................... ....Looking for fix
11)Senile.............Any(Camry).................. .Silly old bugger
12)Ricer...............Any (Ricer)....................Car to fast for street use
13)Narcissistic.......Any......................... ....To busy looking at mirror
14)Drifter..............Ricer..................... .......Looking for a crash
15)Towie..............Tow truck......................Looking for Ricer / Narcissistic
16)Rich.................Any (expensive).............Road rules don’t apply to me
17)Vizard...............CLK Merc......................Immune from prosecution
18)Revhead............Any (Hot).....................When the green light drops….

See how easy it would be if everyone had a plate to identify their personality.
These are just a few, however, I think the good members of AFF could think of a few more. :hihi: :hihi: :hihi: :hihi: :

Cheers, Danny

Hangon, don't they have them already in the form of those yellow triangles stuck on with suction? `Driver may swerve at any minute', `51% b**tch', etc?

It sounds like it would be in the best interests of the hoon not to wear the plates at all anyway. Less likely to be pulled over...

cant other road users dob H platers in if they see them doing 'Hoon' Activites.

i can imagine SO MANY bull calls from old ladies saying "this Hoon just overtook me he needs to be booked" but they dont realise she was doing 20 below the speed limit

it will just get out of control
