Default Help choosing present

One of my closest friends birthdays is coming up, she's turning 19 and i want to get her something special for here birthday. I've asked her sister what i should get her and she suggested jewlery but i have no idea what to buy her or where to buy from, i don't want to buy some generic crap from gold mark or anything like that i want to get her something decent. So i anyone could either suggest a great present idea or a place i can buy some decent jewlery that'd be great.

If she's just a good friend and nothing else (i.e a girl you like but are not sure on asking out) then organise a suprise party for her or something, get her a all day pass at some exclusive day spa (leaves you time to setup the party and get it all ready) and buy her chocolates. Offer to pick her up and drive her home, she wouldnt expect the surprise

Girls love that kinda thing.

Maybe you could look at getting her a Swarovski crystal ornament.

I don't know many people who get them (apart from myself), so it's a pretty unique gift.

SHe's having 2 massive parties in the city, all her other friends are into the nightclub scene and are DJ's and that so that's pretty much sorted. She's going to qld the weekend of her b/day with her bestfriend, she joked around saying i should supprise her and come up so i'm trying to get that sorted now.

SHe's not the dayspa and chockies type of girl.

Dude this is a no brainer, find out from her sister what her favorite store is and get her a voucher, the size of the voucher would of course depend on the size of your feelings for her. This is the best because it shows that you care without showing how much you really don't know what they actually prefered.

Or

Champagne breakfast Balloon flight over the city at sunrise, whether you bring other people would depend again on your feelings for her. The beauty here is, well, you can't miss with a well lit sunrise while floating over the city skyline, looking deep into her eyes, raising your glass and wishing her a Happy Birthday, plus it will be a bit chilly so gives you a chance to get pretty close and have a nice cuddle.

No real fav store, if she likes it then she'll buy it.

Seccond idea sounds terrific although were just friends, i wouldn't want to come off the wrong way with something like this. SHe knows i think she's hot but thats as far as it'll ever go.

Jewellery is always good. Don't listen to the women who say it isnt, a good present in a nice little box will please any woman.

A really nice watch or bangle engraved with a nice message will stay on her wrist for years. Depends on her style, but you cant go wrong with a Yellow or White Gold (solid) bangle (round or a more unusual cut) beautiful if its simple and gorgeous with a diamond or two in it.

Im 20 in a couple of months, ill write what i am hoping for...

A DKNY Watch that was in Marie Claire magazine (October issue p 246) (only $199!! I can scan the picture if you want.)
A beauty treatment voucher at the place down the road (massage, facial etc i think is always good, thats usually what i get for my female friends) or for someone to pay for a trip to the hairdresser!
A magazine subscription to Marie Claire, Performance Ford, Street Machine, Street Fords etc...
A few newly released books
A few movie tickets for something at the Gold Lounge Cinema.
A DVD boxset of House, NCIS, Law and Order or CSI.
A Gift Voucher for Portmans (do they do them?) or possibly ShooBiz or even a shopping centre one at any of the large shopping centres here.
A Jewellery stand/box or make-up case.
A Puppy!
A specialised gift basket of assorted things i use but are expensive (you would need to find out what brands and types she uses) (hand cream, nailpolish, face cream, perfume, make-up, body wash, shampoo, conditioner, hair treatments, face masks etc)
A BIG bunch of flowers in a really nice vase.

For someone to pay my growing HECS debt!!!LOL

Hopefully that gave you some ideas or direction...

There are Swarovski stores in Parramatta Westfield, and in the City Westfield that I know of, though jewellers like Angus & Coote stock a smaller range of them as well.

Cool thanks for the link, it actually sounded quite expensive but it's quite cheap. Might go to parra and have a look at some.

The pictures on the website do the pieces absolutely no justice. Have a look at some in the flesh.

*EDIT* It depends on the size of the piece, but there are some that are stupidly expensive.

Small ornaments start at about $78 (From what I saw in the city store today)

This is just what I have within reach now...

If your looking at jewellery, make sure you know what she wears. A lot of girls love white gold especially those that aren't so tanned.

Also perhaps see below what birth stone she is and have some jewellery made. http://www.invitingsmiles.com/Birth-...et-chart-2.jpg

me... :

in all seriousness, aside from me, being 19 and single : go to the body shop, and get her a basket of stuff, doesnt really matter what, then go to Toys R Us, and get her a hand puppet of a rabbit, or a cute stuffed toy...

i went halfies with a mate on a massive body shop basket and rabbit puppet, for a girl who was turning 19, best present we ever thought of, anyway, the guy i went halves with has now been dating her for almost a year :

Gold Class Tickets would be cool, make a big night out of it the day before or something...

Pictures...well just looking on the internet searching google for jewellery here are some pics of pretty versatile styles, pretty universal i think. I am a fan of white gold, so these are a from a little bias point of view, depends on what she usually wears. As for the watch, i scanned the page, but i dont know where to get it, the stockists number to find out is 1800 818 853...i think if you go into the local DJs Myer or good jeweller they will have similar styles though...

Something in a simple style like this works with everything and is the sort of thing you would wear everyday (so everyday she would remember you got it for her!) Nice to get something like "Happy Birthday _____, Best Wishes Always XRQTOR (then her birthday 00-00-2006)"

If you want any more pics for general ideas for styles let me know, im always happy to look at jewellery!

Jennifer

No, these aren't particularly cheap. I get them from a jewellery store that a friend works at, therefore I get a 20% discount.

There are dedicated Swarovski stores, of which I mentioned 2 in a previous post, and most decent jewellers stock some as well.

The three christmas stars are worth over $120 each, and the smaller ones of the bear, present and the bells are upwards of $80.

Yeah i have a few of the crystal ornaments, they are really cute and look really pretty on top of the shelf i have them on.

It depends on the chic's style, i mean, i know my sister thinks the crystal ornaments are crap, but i love them. My sister and I are classic examples of opposites so if i told you the sort of things she likes i would also try tell you not to get them!LOL

Mind you an engraved plain bangle is something i think almost every girl would like. It can go with anyone's style, so i think i am trying to push you towards that because you have already said she isnt the 'day spa' kinda girl...

Thanks to everyone for the ideas they are all helpfull. So far im leaning towards a gold bangle/bracelet, i know she won't wear silver and being quite tanned normal gold is probally the best way to go.

Just got to find a decent one that i hope she'll like.
