Just replaced the hose between the inlet manifold and the engine block(PCV valve)
Car starts and drives good but now when coming to a stop it wants to stall and has. I had to replace the hose as it was stuffed and had a huge vaccum leak. Everything is connected as it should be, have I missed something when putting it back together? It feels like it has something to do with the throttle body as I can hit the throttle to stop it stalling and the idle goes back to normal. Any ideas? Thanks |

Slightly off topic, but how long did the whole job take you? I am hearing more and more about these PCV hoses failing on the LS. Any tricky parts to the job?

You could do it in around 3-4hrs, I did it over 2 days, as I had to have a break due to heaps of swearing and wanting to drive the car off the nearest cliff!!!
You will get scratches all over your hands and arms(not much room to work with) This is a very poorly designed system and someone at Ford should have there **** removed for this. I got the hose from supercheap, I took the old hose in and matched up perfectly with a Holden coolant crossover hose part number CH1782 Mackay Rubber. This hose should last a long time as it has nylon threads in it, the original is just moulded rubber. Make sure you have a set of 1/4 inch drive sockets also got these from supercheap, around $30. The clamps should be replaced with wormdrive clamps as the originals are crap and hard to remove. Once I sought out my idle problems I will be selling this car as it is the biggest piece of **** I have ever owned. |

Thanks for all the tips mate. I'm sure this will help plenty of others who need to do this job.
Sounds like a tricky job. Always suspected that would be the case as there isn't much room to work with, as you said. Good luck with the idle issues. I'm sure that you've already triple checked all the vacuum line and sensor connections into / around the manifold. |

Son did his focus(used to be ours) without pulling off manifold.
Took about 1.5 hours. Most of the time getting it back on. Took starter out. There was no clamps on the hose! It went back on with no clamps as it is a low pressure system.
