Default MG SZ EV - $40k

Put aside the Chinese thoughts for a minute, and no one has a gun to your head, but looking at the bigger picture this has to be a good thing.

The more options are release, the more competition and the lower the prices.

The range on this one isnt great but perfect for city dwellers are someone who is doing less than 200km's daily.

Naturally there will be some R&D recovery at the start, but, with less components and less testing and emissions etc required in theory they should be cheaper than ICE cars even with the battery penalty?

This is really significant.
An all electric MG Suv at 43k.
And an upcoming all electric MG Corolla size car at 36k.

Ccp policy was to be a leader in the ev market.

I think this will really change the market.
Ice cars now have a reasonably priced competitor.
Mg cars are completely using sales success month after month without an all electric.
Having the two electrics available at very very competitive prices is going to put pressure on ice competition and maybe used car prices.

^^Yes very much so. Its a start, infrastructure will need a kick in pants but make something available to the masses and change will come.

CCP may be lots of things, but they are not stupid and wont wait, why has someone else not done it yet? If it was anyone else I am sure the reception would be different.

I think we also need to understand what are the intention of some makes in regards to EVs. Toyota are very cool on the idea, preferring to put their time and effort into further developing their Hydrogen cars, as I believe Mazda is.
Others are dabbling into the EV market but are likely hedging their bets (VW).
Volvo and the like though, have gone right to the other end and are going full electric.
Next 10 years or so will be interesting.
