What you were doing and where at appox this time 5 Years ago.
No thread bashing, just want to know what you were upto at the time. Being one of the most saddest and notorious days in history almost everyone can recall what they were doing at the time, if they were not asleep of course. I was living at Mum & Dads at the time, being a good Uni Student. :monkes: I was doing hosting on MSN Chatrooms when it was in its full bloom. One of my American friends PM'd me when they first heard what was happening. Also had a live feed off the net at the time from policeradio.com listening to the NYPD. Was such a spin out... : The rest is history, watching in disbelief as it unfolded live on TV.

I was waiting outside "Glowrie House" (just up the Rd from St Vincents Hospital ) in Melbourne about 9 to 9.30am & people were walking to work , one guy walked passed with a Newspaper over his arm , headlines "America Attacked" ....I thought "Ok , something in the financial market etc." I went back inside & my wife said "look at this" & in the TV room it was showing the Jets hitting the WTC.
An hour later I had booked into the Hospital & was on the 10th floor (overlooking the CBD) it was "very spooky" Helicoptors & Planes were Buzzing over the city all day . Also worring was we had left our kids at home (mid NSW) while we were down there for 4 days. Will never forget it.

Crashed out on top of my bed, I had left theTV on.
Woke up some time around midnight, CNN was on, thought this was a bit strange. Banner across thw bottom of the TV screen said "US under attack". First WTC tower had already been hit. Saw the second tower get hit and the subsequent collapses in real time, and knew we were in for some changes. I remember the commentators referring to the thuds audible behind them as bodies crashing on the awning outside, having fallen 100+ stories. |

I was sitting right where I am now. Bright and early at work.
There was a coldness in the air. No customers rang in all morning. We grouped around the TV. Noone could believe what they were seeing.

Was sitting at the computer playing Counter Strike :hihi: when a few of the other players put text on the screen saying that a bomb had gone off in new york, it took a couple of minutes of convincing but i finally turned my tv on only to see the second plane hit in real time. Didnt take my eyes off the tv for hours and hours after that..
This was all about 6 months before i was due to leave for Kapooka...

I was at the girlfriends house (now Mrs Ringo) in the outer outer suburbs that night. Had to get up real early to get to work on time. Half asleep and still dark outside, get into the XF and fire it up and get onto the freeway.....hang on why is the radio station just doing talk back when its tuned to MMM....where's the music?...I started paying attention to what they were saying and I couldn't believe it. I flicked around other radio stations to see if it was real.
That day was so weird. It was still business as usual but I was wondering if we were just living in a niave vaccuum and that everything was going to change very soon. |

I was working at Melb Airport patrolling the International Terminal area when the news flashes started coming in. Needless to say all the passengers in the area about to board international flights were getting a bit edgy. Went back into my office and sat down and pretty much thought that I was witnessing the possible start of WW3!! Saw on live TV the second jet hit.
Got home from work at 2.30am and my wife was still awake watching the TV. It's an event I don't think I'll ever forget where I was at that particular time.

I remember I was in Roma QLD staying at a student hostel. Was listening to the 11pm ABC News. Right at the end of the bulletin they said "And in news just to hand. A plane has crashed into the World Trade Centre."
Thats all they said at that stage. Rolled over at 3am, and it was CNN on the radio, and CNN all over TV as well. We all discussed what had happened at school, and we were all in a bit of shock. I don't think I have ever watched that much news in my whole life! Was glued to CNN!

Was woken up by my daughter who rang to tell me what was going on. Then the unbelievable TV coverage. Then I'm trying to ring my brother who lives in lower Manhattan and works all around NYC in the display business. Phoning and email we could not get through to him for 48 hours because of the communication jams/failures. He and his family were OK but the city was in a grid-lock and shut-down state.

I was doing my last year of VCE. That morning I was in bed and heard the TV on in the kitchen - that was unusual as my parents usually just had the radio playing in the morning. I was delerious (as I am when I just wake up) and was confused all the way to school on the bus. That day we had our English SAC postponed and we spent most of the time in the "study room" watching the news.
I still find it unbelievable that it actually happened.

Was on the net that night when a yank I was talking to told me to turn the news on, a plane had crashed into the WTC. All seemed a bit odd, how the hell do you make that big a mistake? Was about to turn it off and go to bed when the second one hit. Didn't do much but watch TV at school the next day.

I was at school in year 11. I remember in Maths, we turned the TV on and were just watching all the news updates. There was a TV and VCR in each class. The TV didn't have an aerial though, so we made one out of a pencil!

I can barely remember....I think I got up for school at the ungodly hour of 6am and it was on TV or something. Maybe I saw it during the night too. I cant exactly remember.
Me and mates talked about it a bit at school but I dont remember it taking over the whole day. I think we just carried on with normal schooling. 5 years already. Been quite awhile.... |

i was working FIFO near Mt Isa and had just got to work after the flight from Townsville. i logged on to nine msn and saw the footage as it happened. my first thought was someone was making a disaster film centred around the towers. obviously i was proven wrong. all i know is some a$$holes changed our lives forever that day.

I got woken up to my mum screaming (she lived in NJ for 5years), put on the TV and thought it was a movie. I was like "oh Fword" then with my eyes glued to the TV BANG second plane hit. It was some serious/shocking stuff watching it live. It is definitley a day that the world will remember. Lets hope it dont happen again.
I had my HSC English Exam on that day, mind you i was late to school, so was nearly everyone else in my form, lucky the HSC examiners/supervisors were leanient on the day.

I remember going to bed spetember 10th as a happy 16 year old who'd "Got with" a chick (as it was in those days, lol) at a school Year 10 Social the night before. I never knew that what was to happen while I was sleeping meant that I'd never feel 100% safe again.
That morning I woke to Mum turning on my TV, and like most, thought it was a film. For the life of me I couldn't comprehend what was happening. I couldnt' beleive this had happened. School was bad, all my mates spoke of was that we were going to war and that we were all going to die as WW3 was here. Rumours spread that the Rialto was next, and that the Sears tower had been bombed as well. It was a pretty freaky day. Some classes we watched the TV, but I remember a couple of teachers purposely ignoring it and pressing on as normal. I was pretty scared by it all. Cant' beleive its been 5 years. |

I was fast asleep when it happened as I had to start work at 6am. I first heard of it as I got to Melton and changed from CD to the radio, Triple M to be precise. At first I thought that it was another of MMM's bad taste jokes but pretty quickly realised that this was no joke. Got to work (security guard at a warehouse then) and most peop;le were in shock, that is except for a select few warehouse staff that were clapping and cheering about "death to the infidels". I could hardly believe it, people were actually happy that this happened, it made me feel sick. Needless to say these people were ejected from the site pretty bloody quickly. Got a call about an hour before my shift was to end telling me I was needed at the Melbourne airport Taxi rank as some taxi drivers were displaying signs that were of questionable taste. went there and had one of the worst days of my life, but nothing compared to what others were having.
